PHOENIX \u2014 Authorities released new video Tuesday of a shooting just south of the Arizona Capitol that injured two police officers earlier this month.<\/p>\n

The shooting happened on Sept. 2 around 11:30 a.m. near 17th Avenue and Tonto Street, according to the Phoenix Police Department<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The incident caused two officers and a suspect to be hospitalized. All of them are expected to recover.<\/p>\n

What led up to shooting that injured two Phoenix police officers?<\/p>\n

Officers from the department\u2019s Special Assignment Unit (SAU) were in the area serving a search warrant for an unrelated, ongoing investigation, police said.<\/p>\n

When the SAU team approached the door of the apartment, they made an announcement, knocked and then tried to force the door open.<\/p>\n

As the officers opened the door, a man inside opened fire.<\/p>\n

In the body camera footage, at least six gunshots can be heard coming from inside the apartment.<\/p>\n

One officer returned fire, striking the suspect. That officer, who has worked for the Phoenix Police Department for more than 17 years, fired at least five shots, the footage shows.<\/p>\n

After the shooting, two men, who were not injured, came out of the apartment and were detained.<\/p>\n

The injured man also voluntarily exited the apartment. He was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries that were considered life-threatening. He is still in the hospital and will be booked into jail once released, according to police.<\/p>\n

The shooting also sent two officers to the hospital. They are expected to recover and were in good spirits when visited by Phoenix Police Chief Matt Giordano on the day of the shooting<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A handgun that investigators believe was used by the suspect was found inside the apartment.<\/p>\n

This shooting is being investigated by the Arizona Department of Public Safety\u2019s Major Incident Division.<\/p>\n
