Jacksonville Police officers and Onslow County deputies were raising money at Texas Roadhouse on Thursday, Sept. 18.<\/p>\n
All funds from Tip a Cop go towards Special Olympics North Carolina, a cause both departments have been actively participating in for over 10 years.<\/p>\n
The year-round movement that provides athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.<\/p>\n
Onslow County Sheriff Chris Thomas says it’s good to see the community come together for a cause.<\/p>\n
This is a great cause for us all of my staff love it they love supporting Special Olympics and the athletes and it’s a worthy cause they really get into it. a lot of them volunteer or come on their own time to do it and it shows in the money they raise.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Deputies and officers were working as servers, with 100% of their tips going to Special Olympics North Carolina.<\/p>\n
Jacksonville Fire Department also showed up to support the night<\/p>\n
