MARIA BARTIROMO (ANCHOR): I’m glad you mentioned the actuary numbers because, I wonder; You get Social Security benefits when you turn 65. Is that right?<\/p>\n
FRANK BISIGNANO (SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION COMMISSIONER): Yeah.<\/p>\n
BARTIROMO: Sixty-five.<\/p>\n
BISIGNANO: People make choices on when they want them.<\/p>\n
BARTIROMO: OK.<\/p>\n
BISIGNANO: And it could be earlier, could be all the way out to 70.<\/p>\n
BARTIROMO: So, I’m wondering, wouldn’t changing the retirement age from 65 to 67, or when you actually are eligible to start getting them, wouldn’t that save a lot of money and help you?<\/p>\n

BARTIROMO: So, would you consider raising the retirement?<\/p>\n
BISIGNANO: I think everything is being considered, will be considered.<\/p>\n
BARTIROMO: And then you need Congress to \u2014<\/p>\n
BISIGNANO: Yes, they have to \u2014 it needs really to be the Trustees, which are the four of us, myself, Treasury secretary, Labor secretary, HHS, the White House \u2014 which is completely committed to protect and preserve. And then Congress. And that’s where the real work will happen, and that will take a while. But we have plenty of time.<\/p>\n
BARTIROMO: Are you considering the fact that like, if you’re just reaching 66, 67, whatever, then they’re not included, but you’re beginning with a much younger \u2014<\/p>\n
BISIGNANO: I think that. I think that.<\/p>\n
BARTIROMO: Who are not expecting to retire at 65.<\/p>\n
BISIGNANO: Yeah. I mean, remember most people told you and I Social Security wasn’t going to be around.<\/p>\n
BARTIROMO: That’s true, yes.<\/p>\n
BISIGNANO: It’s going to be around.
