{"id":238214,"date":"2025-09-19T05:55:14","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T05:55:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/238214\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T05:55:14","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T05:55:14","slug":"miller-outdoor-theatre-to-undergo-1-8-million-maintenance-project-cutting-the-2025-2026-season-short","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/238214\/","title":{"rendered":"Miller Outdoor Theatre to undergo $1.8 million maintenance project, cutting the 2025-2026 season short"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Located in Hermann Park, Miller Outdoor Theatre is set to undergo facility improvements starting in October to focus on items such as the center\u2019s heating, ventilation and cooling system, according to officials from Houston First Corporation, which oversees venue maintenance and facilities across the city.<\/p>\n<p>While Houston First manages the theater\u2019s facilities, the Miller Theatre Advisory Board oversees the public funds given to the theater\u2019s programs and strategic directions.<\/p>\n<p>Claudia de Vasco, managing director of the Miller Outdoor Theatre Advisory Board, said that because of the scale of the renovations, the theater\u2019s current season and the following season will be impacted by the new facility improvements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will be ending the 2025 season early and starting the 2026 season about three months late due to this construction project,\u201d de Vasco said.<\/p>\n<p>The last show of the season will take place Oct. 4, but the season typically ends around early November. (Courtesy Miller Outdoor Theatre)<\/p>\n<p><b>About the project<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This past June, Houston First&#8217;s board approved the renovation plans and allocated a total of $2.2 million to the project in case of contingency.<\/p>\n<p>A list of project details given to Community Impact from the corporation includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Replacing the wood floor and subframes with fire-treated joists and decking<\/li>\n<li>Replacing the existing rooftop and related condensing units<\/li>\n<li>Replacing condensing units with a single, larger capacity unit<\/li>\n<li>Replacing indoor fan coil units and air handling units<\/li>\n<li>Adding ductwork and air grills to supply air to the stage area<\/li>\n<li>Adding dampers\/controls to control under-floor and overhead air supply<\/li>\n<li>Replacing existing electrical panel boards, breakers, switches and wiring that serve the HVAC equipment<\/li>\n<li>Replacing existing audio\/video cabling and panels<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThis is all back-of-house maintenance work to make sure the theater\u2019s infrastructure is sound and modern,\u201d said A.J.
