Jimmy Fallon abruptly canceled his appearance at Fast Company\u2019s Innovation Festival in New York City<\/a>, shortly after \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d was suspended over its host\u2019s comments about the conservative response to the shooting death of Charlie Kirk earlier this month .<\/p>\n

Fallon was supposed to speak Wednesday<\/a> night alongside marketing executive Bozoma St. John about NBC\u2019s \u201cOn Brand,\u201d an unscripted series that pits marketing pros against each other in creative challenges. Some 30 minutes before he was set to take the stage, though, organizers of the event in lower Manhattan revealed Fallon pulled out of the discussion at the last minute, Deadline reported.<\/p>\n

The panel went ahead as scheduled with St. John and Fast Company editor Jeff Beer.<\/p>\n

Fallon\u2019s absence came just hours after ABC yanked Kimmel\u2019s eponymous late-night show<\/a> from it line-up, citing his monologue about the aftermath of Kirk\u2019s killing. The conservative commentator had been discussing mass shootings during a Q&A at Utah Valley State University when he was fatally shot in the neck. The suspect, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, has been charged with aggravated murder among other charges.<\/p>\n

Following the deadly violence, President Trump and his conservative allies raced to place blame the shooting on the left, while Democrats suggested the shooter\u2019s ideologies aligned more with the right.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,\u201d Kimmel said.<\/p>\n

The late-night host also offered his condolences<\/a> to Kirk\u2019s family in the immediate aftermath of the deadly shooting.<\/p>\n

Trump\u00a0offered his \u201ccongratulations\u201d to ABC\u00a0in a Truth Social post in the wake of Kimmel\u2019s indefinite hiatus.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cKimmel has ZERO talent, and worse ratings than even Colbert, if that\u2019s possible,\u201d he wrote. \u201cThat leaves Jimmy and Seth<\/a>, two total losers, on Fake News NBC. Their ratings are also horrible. Do it NBC!!! President DJT.\u201d<\/p>\n

A rerun of \u201cCelebrity Family Feud\u201d aired in place of the late night show on Wednesday, and a Charlie Kirk special will air in its place on affiliates owned by Sinclair Broadcasting<\/a>.<\/p>\n
