SAN ANTONIO – We’re learning more about a John Jay High School student who remains in ICU after being hit by a truck while walking on campus during his lunch period. <\/p>\n

Police said the 16-year-old was in the crosswalk when he was hit by the truck. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe just saw him hit the windshield and go over the windshield,\u201d said Matthew Gonzalez.<\/p>\n

Gonzalez and his friends, all students at John Jay High, were at a restaurant across the street when it happened.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was just on the ground, it was just sad,\u201d said another student.<\/p>\n

His mother says he underwent emergency brain surgery to stop the bleeding. <\/p>\n

Doctors removed part of his skull to relieve the swelling. He’s expected to be in the ICU for a month with a long recovery ahead. <\/p>\n
