Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr said Thursday he believes it would be \u201cworthwhile\u201d to investigate whether ABC\u2019s daytime talk show \u201cThe View\u201d is violating broadcast rules in the wake of Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s suspension.<\/a><\/p>\n

Carr argued on \u201cThe Scott Jennings Show\u201d that the left-leaning talk show could be violating the commission\u2019s \u201cequal time\u201d rule, which requires broadcasters to provide equal opportunity to all political candidates except for a \u201cbona fide news show.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPotentially, I would assume you can make the argument that \u2018The View \u2019is a bona fide news show, but I\u2019m not so sure about that,\u201d Carr said. \u201cAnd I think it\u2019s worthwhile to have the FCC look into whether \u2018The View\u2019 and some of these other programs that you have still qualify as bona fide news programs and therefore exempt from the equal opportunity regime that Congress has put in place.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fox News Digital reached out to ABC and Disney for comment.<\/p>\n

According to the Media Research Center, \u201cThe View\u201d failed to book a single right-leaning guest to discuss politics between January and April 2025.<\/p>\n

At the same time, \u201cThe View\u201d managed to welcome 63 liberal guests, including nine Democratic politicians.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThe View\u201d has also been frequently attacked by the Trump administration over the hosts\u2019 tirades against President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

A White House spokesperson warned in July that the show could be \u201cpulled off-air\u201d if the attacks didn\u2019t stop.<\/p>\n

An entertainment lawyer with clients at ABC told Fox News Digital that \u201cThe View\u201d could very well be the next show on the chopping block.<\/p>\n

\u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d was suspended this week after the host made controversial comments about the killing of Charlie Kirk. ABC<\/p>\n

\u201cI think \u2018The View\u2019 is next,\u201d the lawyer said, saying the show\u2019s liberal brand was wearing thin.<\/p>\n

Carr\u2019s suggestion came one day after another ABC program, \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d was suspended <\/a>indefinitely over comments made by late-night host Jimmy Kimmel about the Charlie Kirk assassin.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,\u201d Kimmel said.<\/p>\n

Prior to the announcement, Carr criticized ABC and Disney over Kimmel\u2019s conduct.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I\u2019ve been very clear from the moment that I have become chairman of the FCC, I want to reinvigorate the public interest. And what people don\u2019t understand is that the broadcasters, and you\u2019ve gotten this right, are entirely different than people that use other forms of communication. They have a license granted by us at the FCC, and that comes with it an obligation to operate in the public interest,\u201d Carr said.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook, we can do this the easy way or the hard way.
