By the time they arrived, Phoenix Police Department officers already had helped the vehicle\u2019s lone occupant to safety.<\/p>\n
The conditions were caused by storms that developed Thursday evening and rolled through central and north Phoenix into the Cave Creek\/Carefree area overnight, triggering a flash flood warning<\/a> that was set to expire at 7:15 a.m.<\/p>\n \u201cPhoenix Sky Harbor Airport picked up 0.23 inches of rain, and then areas farther north \u2026 picked up anywhere between a half an inch to an inch of rain,\u201d Gabriel Lojero of the National Weather Service told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Friday morning.<\/p>\n Thursday night\u2019s activity prompted authorities to issue a thunderstorm warning<\/a> for Maricopa County.<\/p>\n Will there be more thunderstorms, flash flooding in metro Phoenix?<\/p>\n Lojero said there could be more rain in the Valley as the day progresses, but additional flash flooding is unlikely.<\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a potential maybe of a few isolated showers and storms later this afternoon and into this evening, but it should be much more isolated in nature compared to what we saw during the overnight period, where the rainfall activity was a little bit more widespread,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n There could be stronger activity north and east of the Valley, Lojero noted.<\/p>\n KTAR News 92.3 FM\u2019s Ginia McFarland contributed to this report.<\/p>\n Follow @kstonezone<\/a><\/p>\n We want to hear from you.<\/p>\n Have a story idea or tip?
