{"id":239438,"date":"2025-09-19T17:29:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T17:29:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/239438\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T17:29:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T17:29:09","slug":"train-festival-rolls-back-into-union-station-this-weekend","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/239438\/","title":{"rendered":"Train Festival Rolls Back Into Union Station This Weekend"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The weekend-long celebration features vintage trains, model displays and live music at L.A.\u2019s historic train station<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"807\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/LAUS-Train-Festival-Selects-2-400xauto.webp.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-82815\" style=\"object-position: 50% 50%;\"  \/>Credit: Los Angeles Union Station<\/p>\n<p>Union Station\u2019s beloved <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unionstationla.com\/happenings\/train-festival-2025\/\">Train Festival<\/a> is back by popular demand this weekend, running Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event is free, with programming for the whole family.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Visitors can step inside vintage and modern train cars, explore detailed model train displays, enjoy live music, and pick up limited-edition merchandise and Metro TAP cards. The festival is supported by Metro, Metrolink and Amtrak, and will feature a virtual reality experience by the California High-Speed Rail Authority.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>After the festival\u2019s exciting debut in 2023, marketing director Susie Vance says Union Station wanted to plan another event to celebrate \u201ceverything rail and transportation.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s our biggest event of the year,\u201d Vance says, \u201cand it\u2019s a feel-good event to get people out of their homes and feel like a part of the L.A. community and participate in something that brings a little nostalgia and history from Union Station.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"798\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/LAUS-Train-Festival-Selects-5-400xauto.webp.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-82816\" style=\"object-position: 50% 50%;\"  \/>Credit: Los Angeles Union Station<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s theme, \u201cLA\u2019s Spirit in Motion,\u201d emerged as a nod to the sports events on the horizon for Los Angeles, including the Olympics, World Cup and Super Bowl.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we go into time periods when the world will descend on Los Angeles, we\u2019re hoping that people get in the custom of taking buses to our venues and sporting arenas. We\u2019ll be transferring people and bringing people all over the city through our bus and rail system,\u201d Vance says. \u201cWe use the word \u2018spirit\u2019 because we had just come out of the fires, so we wanted to show that connectivity with our community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center is-style-altfont has-secondary-color has-text-color has-link-color has-xs-font-size wp-elements-a392843e06eac12cec56e735f4f8219f has-lg-margin-top\" style=\"letter-spacing:1px;text-transform:uppercase\">Scroll to continue reading<\/p>\n<p>Attendees can tour railroad equipment on tracks 13, 14 and 15, including a 1937 train that made history as the first steam locomotive to bring a passenger train into Union Station: the Santa Fe 3751.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the star of our show,\u201d Vance explains. \u201cIf someone\u2019s never seen a steam locomotive, it\u2019s quite a spectacle to see, in a good way. It\u2019s just a beautiful locomotive. Steam comes out of the top, so the kids really love it, and you do have an opportunity to get in the cab of it.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The National Forum, a 1956 Pullman Car with dining quarters and a lounge, as well as a 1959 Canadian National Car, will also be on display for guests to explore, alongside modern-day train cars.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"low\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"801\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/LAUS-Train-Festival-Selects-15-1-400xauto.webp.webp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-82819\" style=\"object-position: 50% 50%;\"  \/>Credit: Los Angeles Union Station<\/p>\n<p>Five model train displays \u2014 carefully crafted by societies such as <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.group160ntrak.org\/index.html\">Group 160 NTRAK Club<\/a> and <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lugola.org\/lug\/\">Lego User Group of Los Angeles<\/a> \u2014 add some miniature magic that will appeal to all ages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody loves a good model train display,\u201d Vance says. \u201cKids love being able to go up close to these miniature models of trains and different scales of trains, as well as mountain scenery and little stores, and go through a western town.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After exploring storied vintage trains and watching miniature ones go by, attendees can take architecture and art tours by <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.laconservancy.org\/\">Los Angeles Conservancy<\/a> and <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/californiapreservation.org\/\">California Preservation Foundation,<\/a> or listen to live music put on by <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/art.metro.net\/\">Metro Art<\/a>\u00a0on the North Patio.<\/p>\n<p>Vance hopes the festival highlights how many transportation options Angelenos have access to and \u201chow lucky we are to have it in Los Angeles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrains are forever evolving.
