Kathy Hochul for her <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/14\/us-news\/ny-gov-kathy-hochul-expected-to-endorse-zohran-mamdani-this-week-sources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shocking endorsement of Mamdani<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n<p>Without naming Hochul, Adams \u2014 who is polling nearly 40 points behind Mamdani in the November mayoral race \u2014 bitterly complained about the \u201ctroubling\u201d support the radical Democratic nominee has received.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Eric Adams praised New York Democratic Party Chair Jay Jacobs for refusing to endorse Zohran Mamdani. Tom Suozzi and Laura Gillen, who oppose Mamdani\u2019s criticism of Israel and unapologetic socialism both on principle and as potentially alienating for moderate New York voters.<\/p>\n<p>Hochul acknowledged her disagreements with Mamdani as she endorsed him, but argued his focus on affordability and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/16\/us-news\/hochul-argues-zohran-mamdani-would-be-best-candidate-to-stand-up-to-trump-as-she-defends-shock-endorsement-in-nyc-mayoral-race\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">potential to fight President Trump<\/a> made him the clear pick.<\/p>\n<p>Insiders noted her support of Mamdani could help her gain <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/17\/us-news\/ny-gov-hochul-using-zohran-mamdani-as-shield-from-lefty-dems-by-banking-on-his-anti-trump-cred-insiders-say\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">credibility among progressives<\/a> as she faces a primary challenge from her left flank in next year\u2019s gubernatorial primary.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani\u2019s electoral rival Andrew Cuomo, who as governor had appointed Jacobs to his post in 2019, said he couldn\u2019t recall a time when the Democrats\u2019 chair crossed the governor on endorsing a Big Apple mayoral nominee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt clarifies the situation,\u201d Cuomo said Thursday during a campaign event in Staten Island. \u201cThe Democratic Party chairman did not endorse Mamdani \u2014 why? Because he is not a Democrat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is a socialist. He is a socialist who ran and won in a Democratic primary. Socialists and Democrats are apples and oranges.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani has energized Democratic voters in New York City. Matthew McDermott<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/01\/us-news\/full-results-of-nyc-dem-mayoral-primary-show-how-badly-zohran-mamdani-beat-andrew-cuomo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">thoroughly trounced Cuomo<\/a> in the June primary, winning more voters than any New York City Dem in more than 30 years.<\/p>\n<p>Many Empire State Democrats have long been unhappy with Jacobs\u2019 leadership, arguing his mild-mannered approach failed to fire up voters and blaming him for the party\u2019s poor showing in the 2022 midterm elections.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>His failure to get behind Mamdani, the party\u2019s nominee who has proven a phenom at energizing voters, is only the latest gripe many Dems have against him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDisgraceful.
