{"id":239924,"date":"2025-09-19T22:06:17","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T22:06:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/239924\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T22:06:17","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T22:06:17","slug":"gas-is-expected-to-get-cheaper-this-fall-one-expert-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/239924\/","title":{"rendered":"Gas is expected to get cheaper this fall, one expert says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/09\/13\/charts-how-much-costs-have-risen-since-trump-tariffs-went-into-effect.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">inflation drives up the cost of most goods and services<\/a>, gas is one of the few things that hasn&#8217;t gotten more expensive, and it might even get cheaper this fall.<\/p>\n<p>The national average <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/06\/28\/gas-prices-will-be-the-cheapest-theyve-been-in-years-expert-says.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">for a gallon of gas<\/a> in the U.S. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eia.gov\/petroleum\/gasdiesel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">was $3.17<\/a> as of Monday, down about two cents from the week before, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For many Americans, the fourth quarter \u2026 is going to hold a lot of promise for gas prices declining in many areas,&#8221; says Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.<\/p>\n<p>De Haan says gas prices, which typically decline in the latter half of the year, could fall to around $3 per gallon sometime in October, due to factors including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/09\/07\/opec-agrees-to-oil-output-increase-in-october.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">more oil production from a group of nations<\/a> known OPEC+, a switch to a cheaper winter blend of gasoline and Wednesday&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/09\/17\/fed-cuts-interest-rates-how-it-affects-credit-cards-and-loans.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Federal Reserve interest rate<\/a> cut.<\/p>\n<p>While there are still factors that could drive gas prices higher, including ongoing uncertainty over tariffs and the potential supply disruptions from hurricanes, &#8220;as we get into October, especially November, gas prices will likely fall 10 to probably 30 cents a gallon nationally,&#8221; De Haan says.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s looking fairly good for motorists in most areas,&#8221; he says.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"headline0\"\/>Relief is coming to the West Coast and Northeast<\/p>\n<p>Nationally, gas prices have risen slightly since late August, mainly due to significant price increases on the West Coast and in the Northeast.<\/p>\n<p>States like Arizona, Washington, Oregon, California and Nevada have experienced supply issues stemming from unplanned maintenance, permanent refinery shutdowns and a significant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.opb.org\/article\/2025\/09\/18\/gas-prices-high-oregon-washington-pacific-northwest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">pipeline outage in the Pacific Northwest<\/a>, De Haan says.
