{"id":240066,"date":"2025-09-19T23:27:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T23:27:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/240066\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T23:27:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T23:27:09","slug":"jimmy-kimmel-receives-support-from-marvel-stars-amid-boycott-wave","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/240066\/","title":{"rendered":"Jimmy Kimmel Receives Support From Marvel Stars Amid Boycott Wave"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/jimmy-kimmel\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jimmy-kimmel_1\" data-tag=\"jimmy-kimmel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jimmy Kimmel<\/a>, who had his late night show <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/abc-suspends-jimmy-kimmel-live-charlie-kirk-1236374150\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">suspended indefinitely<\/a> by Disney-owned ABC in the wake of comments about the Charlie Kirk shooting suspect, Tyler Robinson, is receiving more support from high-profile Hollywood celebrities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/pedro-pascal\/\" id=\"auto-tag_pedro-pascal_1\" data-tag=\"pedro-pascal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pedro Pascal<\/a>, who recently starred in The Fantastic Four: First Steps from Disney and Marvel, took to Instagram on Thursday to write, \u201cStanding with you Jimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d He added, \u201cDefend free speech\u201d and \u201cdefend democracy,\u201d sharing the words with a photo that featured the actor with Kimmel during an appearance on the show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tPascal\u2019s post came on the heels of other Marvel stars taking their support a step further by endorsing a boycott of the studio and its subsidiaries, including platforms that stream their work. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/marisa-tomei\/\" id=\"auto-tag_marisa-tomei_1\" data-tag=\"marisa-tomei\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marisa Tomei<\/a>, who played Aunt May opposite Tom Holland in the Spider-Man franchise (a Marvel property distributed by Sony, though she appears in Disney releases from the Avengers universe), reposted a call to \u201cunsubscribe and boycott\u201d platforms under the Walt Disney Company umbrella, including Marvel, ABC, ESPN, Fox Entertainment, Hulu, Pixar, Lucasfilm and Bamtech Media.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tTatiana Maslany, who starred in the title role of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, a Marvel series that debuted on Disney+, posted a behind-the-scenes photo of herself on set, urging her Instagram followers to \u201ccancel your Disney+, Hulu, ESPN subscriptions!\u201d Mark Ruffalo, who played the Hulk on the big screen, participated in a No Kings online event during which he <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Acyn\/status\/1968870214700765370\" target=\"_blank\">weighed in<\/a>. \u201cMy industry doesn\u2019t really understand what\u2019s happening right now, but what they do understand is our freedom of speech is being attacked.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe posts came as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/business\/business-news\/inside-protest-against-disney-jimmy-kimmel-suspension-1236375195\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">protestors<\/a> took to the streets to show support for Kimmel, both at his Jimmy Kimmel Live! headquarters in Hollywood and outside the Disney gates in Burbank, Calif. The Hollywood Reporter has learned that in addition to a growing petition from MoveOn Civic Action, the organization has commissioned a mobile billboard truck that will be driving around Los Angeles this weekend with stops planned for El Capitan Theatre, Disney and the Prospect Studios. It will feature messages like \u201cwe\u2019re with Jimmy and free speech\u201d and \u201cdictators and executive aren\u2019t funny \u2014\u00a0Jimmy Kimmel is.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tTrucks aside, there\u2019s been other support online, like from Lost creator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/damon-lindelof\/\" id=\"auto-tag_damon-lindelof_1\" data-tag=\"damon-lindelof\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Damon Lindelof<\/a>, who had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/damon-lindelof-claims-asked-to-leave-star-wars-project-1235406248\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously been attached<\/a> to a Star Wars project for Disney and Lucasfilm. He showed his support for Kimmel on Instagram, writing that he was \u201cshocked, saddened and infuriated\u201d by the news that the show had been yanked from the air. And if the suspension isn\u2019t lifted, he \u201ccan\u2019t in good conscience work for the company\u201d that imposed it, making Lindelof the first high-profile creator to say that he won\u2019t do business at Disney unless Kimmel gets back in his late night chair.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tLongtime ABC and Hulu collaborator <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/kerry-washington\/\" id=\"auto-tag_kerry-washington_1\" data-tag=\"kerry-washington\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kerry Washington<\/a>, who starred in Scandal and Little Fires Everywhere and executive-produced Reasonable Doubt, also posted a showing of support for Kimmel on Instagram. \u201cYou\u2019ve always supported me, my work and my voice for years, and I\u2019m endlessly grateful for your friendship, partnership, the laughter and encouragement,\u201d she wrote. \u201cNow it\u2019s my turn to stand with and for you.\u201d She called the suspension \u201cnot just unfair, it\u2019s unjust.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tA statement, signed by hundreds of comedians including Jimmy Fallon, Chelsea Handler, Rosie O\u2019Donnell, W. Kamau Bell, Margaret Cho and others, is making the rounds while amassing additional signatures. \u201cIt\u2019s a dark time for comedians, and by extension, for all Americans,\u201d it <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1-vhY9XHKjmqUJ50imhEn4UPXTTYgxY9XlZ83hhA2k_o\/edit?tab=t.0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reads<\/a>. \u201cWhen the government targets one of us, they target us all. They strike at the heart of our shared humanity. They strip away the basic right every person deserves: to speak freely, question boldly and laugh loudly.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tHandler, meanwhile, did more than add her name to the statement. The comedian posted a clip on TikTok confirming that she was due to be a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! yesterday. \u201cAs one of a handful of people who\u2019ve hosted a late night show, I think it\u2019s pretty clear that our First Amendment, which is our right to free speech, is in grave danger,\u201d she said before noting Brian Kilmeade\u2019s controversial comments on Fox News \u2014\u00a0\u201cjust kill \u2018em\u201d he said in reference to mentally ill homeless people \u2014\u00a0did not cost him his job. \u201cPeople have always faced backlash for things that they\u2019ve said, but we\u2019ve just never had the government or government agencies like the FCC leading the charge to silence people before.
