This figure surpasses that of countries such as Switzerland, Denmark, and China. Viettel leads the market with a speed of 272.9 Mbps, outpacing even Iceland, which holds 8th place globally. Viettel’s 58% speed increase since the beginning of 2025 has significantly contributed to Vietnam’s improved global ranking.

These results align with data from iSpeed, the Internet quality measurement platform developed by the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC). In August 2025, Vietnam’s average fixed Internet speed reached 271.2 Mbps. Viettel topped the chart with 318.71 Mbps, followed by VNPT (247.77 Mbps) and FPT (121.59 Mbps).

iSpeed results showing Viettel’s fixed Internet speed.

The drivers behind Vietnam’s Internet acceleration

Experts attribute the rapid growth to several key factors, including increased investment in both submarine and terrestrial fiber optic infrastructure and the proactive upgrades by service providers to improve domestic connectivity.

A Viettel representative, whose network ranks first in both domestic and international speed charts, said that Resolution 57-NQ/TW – focused on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation – has created strong motivation for the company to adopt advanced technologies. These include XGS-PON, WiFi 6, and upcoming WiFi 7 implementation.

Viettel has significantly expanded its fiber infrastructure, deploying up to 500,000 km of cable to reach 100% of rural and urban areas. This enables the delivery of high-bandwidth Internet packages to households and businesses alike.

The adoption of XGS-PON fiber optic technology has created a new “data highway,” offering symmetric speeds of 10 Gbps – 8 to 10 times faster than the previous GPON standard. This supports seamless 8K video streaming, VR gaming, and smart home operation, while significantly reducing latency – essential for large-scale IoT, smart cities, remote healthcare, and digital education.

Currently, Viettel operates five major international submarine cable routes, accounting for 65% of Vietnam’s total international bandwidth. These cables provide direct connections to major hubs in Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, and further to Europe and Africa.

Viettel operates five submarine cable routes, making up 65% of Vietnam’s international connection capacity.

Looking ahead to 2030, Vietnam plans to have at least 15 international submarine cables. Viettel aims to participate in and operate at least five of these, including a fully owned cable connecting Vietnam and Singapore, scheduled to launch in 2028.

In April 2025, Viettel raised its minimum broadband speed for customers for the fifth consecutive time – from 150 Mbps to 300 Mbps – enhancing access to high-speed and stable Internet. By 2030, Viettel targets a minimum speed of 1 Gbps for all users.

To complement this, Viettel is replacing old routers with new dual-band WiFi 6 devices and preparing to deploy WiFi 7 by 2026. WiFi 7 offers peak speeds of 10 Gbps – three times faster than WiFi 5 – and enhances signal range, device connectivity, and simultaneous performance for 4K video, gaming, and livestreaming. Its automatic band-selection feature optimizes speed based on user location.

With these upgrades, Viettel not only reaffirms its position as Vietnam’s top Internet provider but also delivers an exceptional connection experience nationwide, meeting the growing demand for high-speed Internet.

Thuy Linh

In August 2025, Vietnam’s fixed Internet speed ranked 10th globally, while mobile Internet speed secured the 16th spot.…

[19
712,128533,128538,128537,158,67,132,68,15336,128539,128541,128542,128534,128540,128536,128535
0":"post-240452","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-internet","8":"tag-internet","9":"tag-internet-speed-ranking-2025","10":"tag-ispeed-vietnam-internet-data","11":"tag-ookla-speedtest-vietnam-august-2025","12":"tag-technology","13":"tag-united-states","14":"tag-unitedstates","15":"tag-us","16":"tag-vietnam","17":"tag-vietnam-fixed-mobile-internet-global-ranking","18":"tag-vietnam-national-internet-upgrade-plan-2030","19":"tag-viettel-broadband-promotion-2025","20":"tag-viettel-global-broadband-top-10","21":"tag-viettel-submarine-cable-infrastructure","22":"tag-wifi-6-and-wifi-7-rollout-viettel","23":"tag-xgs-pon-technology-vietnam
["GET
