And it translates to \u201chead of the year\u201d in Hebrew.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"VECC2447NFE3ZJP454V6QQXXMU\">It is a religious and festive time when family and friends gather together for meals and worship and grow closer to God, while also looking forward to a new year with anticipation and reflecting on the past year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"6DPOTIWDWRC3PHQZVAZKHJGQPU\">This year, the observance begins at sundown on Monday, Sept. 22, and continues through nightfall on Wednesday, Sept. 24.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"EESDSDBDXFFJDKP6CRRXTZR45U\">Students will return to classes on Thursday, Sept. 25.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"JXKTJHMWTZG4LBA3J2LWCGDE7Y\">And students won\u2019t need to wait long for their next day off \u2014 which will be the following week on Thursday, Oct. 2, in observance of Yom Kippur.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"DHXBYUOQ2ZECHOLJOJZLSBV7YY\">For those looking further ahead, students and staff will have another six days off before winter recess begins on Dec. 24.<\/p>\n<p>If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
