Other African leaders in the A- category include Egypt\u2019s Hassan Abdalla, South Africa\u2019s Lesetja Kganyago, and Uganda\u2019s Michael Atingi-Ego.<\/p>\n<p>Mamo stepped down as governor on September 3 after serving since early 2023. During his tenure, he oversaw regulatory reforms in the banking sector and introduced new monetary policy tools.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) has appointed Eyob Tekalign (PhD), former State Minister of Finance, as the new governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia.
