\n\tSwifties flooded the AMC<\/a> Theatres app on Friday while scrambling to buy tickets for \u201cTaylor Swift<\/a>: The Official Release Party of a Showgirl,\u201d an 89-minute event celebrating the release of the pop star\u2019s new album, \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn the AMC app, a screen appeared displaying a constant 2-minute estimated wait time since the 12:12 p.m. ET ticket release, along with the message: \u201cThank you for your patience as we experience high traffic volume. We have proactively created this queue for all visitors. When it is your turn, you will have 10 minutes to begin you \u2018Taylor Swift | The Official Release Party of a Showgirl\u2019 ticket purchase or other online visit. To purchase tickets or make A-list reservations today for movies that are now playing, please visit an AMC Theatre near you or check back later.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tIn a statement, a spokesperson for AMC said, \u201cThe power of the Swifties remains unmatched! But rest assured, our website and mobile app are both stable, and we\u2019re continuing to sell tickets online in big numbers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tEarlier Friday, Variety exclusively reported<\/a> that Taylor Swift will return to the big screen from Oct. 3-5 \u2014 coinciding with the release of \u201cThe Life of a Showgirl\u201d on Oct. 3. The special \u201cparty\u201d program, envisioned as a large-scale version of her famed \u201csecret sessions\u201d album events, will include the premiere of the first music video from Swift\u2019s 12th studio album, for the song \u201cThe Fate of Ophelia.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tAll 540 AMC Theatres locations will participate, continuing Swift\u2019s partnership with AMC Theatres Distribution to handle her theatrical releases. The event will also expand to thousands of non-AMC theaters across North America, including Cinemark and Regal locations. Screenings will kick off simultaneously across time zones at 3 p.m. ET \/ noon PT on Oct. 3. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhile normally prohibited during traditional showtimes, AMC guests are welcome to sing\u00a0and dance during \u2018Taylor Swift\u00a0| The Official Release Party of a Showgirl,’\u201d a press release from AMC reads. \u201cTo help ensure everyone\u2019s enjoyment of the show, guests may not stand on seats or block any aisles or stairs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRegarding the international rollout, several territories will get to join the \u201crelease party\u201d in tandem with the U.S. launch on Oct. 3-5. These include Canada, Mexico, the U.K., France, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. Tickets for showtimes in these countries will go on sale this coming Tuesday.<\/p>\n
