\u201cAs we head into later today, any sort of activity is expected to be mostly concentrated north and east of Phoenix toward the higher terrain areas, but we cannot rule out a few isolated showers and storms affecting portions of the Phoenix area later this afternoon into early this evening,\u201d Gabriel Lojero, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service (NWS), told KTAR News 92.3 FM on Friday morning.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, Saturday\u2019s forecast<\/a> calls for sunny skies and a high in the upper 90s, about normal for this time of year.<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re still going to be seeing some humid conditions,\u201d Lojero said. \u201cThe good news is that our temperatures are actually going to stay near to slightly below 100 temperatures for high temperatures, probably into early next week.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, meteorologists are tracking another disturbance that could bring more rain to the Valley before the weekend ends \u2014 but the outlook is uncertain.<\/p>\n \u201cWe may see another shot of rain starting late Sunday and maybe it may extend into early next week,\u201d Lojero said. \u201cWe have to wait and see how that forecast pans out.\u201d<\/p>\n Phoenix adds to monsoon season rainfall total<\/p>\n Despite the recent precipitation, Phoenix is closing on its third consecutive monsoon season with under 1 inch of total rainfall.<\/p>\n A combined 0.23 inches fell late Thursday and early Friday at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, which the NWS uses for the city\u2019s official readings.<\/p>\n That increased the city\u2019s monsoon season total to 0.91 inches, well behind he normal amount to this point of over 2.2 inches.<\/p>\n Unless the airport gets at least 0.09 more inches before the end of the month, 2025 will go down as Phoenix\u2019s 14th driest monsoon on record.<\/p>\n KTAR News 92.3 FM\u2019s Ginia McFarland contributed to this report.<\/p>\n Follow @kstonezone<\/a><\/p>\n We want to hear from you.<\/p>\n Have a story idea or tip?
