San Antonio cinephiles have a new place to haunt the aisles, and the best part? It\u2019s free.<\/p>\n

The newly established Free Blockbuster 210 is \u201cpart of the worldwide movement inspired by FreeBlockbuster.org,\u201d according to a report by spooky San Antonio tabloid Occulto!<\/p>\n

The free video rental concept is located at Weekend World<\/a>, 435 McCarty Road, a warehouse-like event space near San Antonio International Airport.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe concept is simple: Take a Movie, Leave a Movie!\u201d Free Blockbuster 210 founder Kevin Clary told Occulto. \u201cAnyone in the community can stop by, borrow a DVD or VHS, and return it when they\u2019re done. Or donate a movie of their own for someone else to enjoy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The concept is intended to work much like the Little Free Libraries that have swept the nation, posting up outside of individual homes and businesses alike, according to the report. <\/p>\n

\u201cOnly instead of movies, you\u2019ll find books!\u201d Clary added. <\/p>\n

Clary hopes to appeal to the collective nostalgia for simpler times, when Fridays were for movies and pizza and not a growing sense of existential dread. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a nostalgic nod to the golden age of video rentals, while bringing neighbors together through the joy of sharing movies,\u201d Clary told Occulto. \u201cWe\u2019re proud to bring a piece of retro fun to Alamo City and can\u2019t wait to have the community keep it stocked and thriving!\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to hosting parties and events, the McCarty Road warehouse is also headquarters for the in-house film production company Weekend World Productions, according to the report.<\/p>\n

Free Blockbuster 210\u2019s hours of operation are 4-8 p.m. Friday and noon-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n
