Maryland freshman quarterback Malik Washington has thrown for 773 yards and six touchdowns with just one interception, and his chemistry with wide receiver Shaleak Knotts (11 REC, 196 yds., 3 TD) and tight end Dorian Fleming (10 REC, 106 yds., 2 TD) gives the Terrapins a dangerous passing attack.

Wisconsin is coming off a 38–14 loss at No. 19 Alabama after opening with wins over Miami (Ohio) and Middle Tennessee. Quarterback Danny O’Neil (520 yds., 5 TD, 4 INT) has shown some promise in relief duty for the injured Billy Edwards Jr., though turnovers remain a glaring issue.

Meanwhile, running back Dilin Jones is emerging as a workhorse, and wide receiver Vinny Anthony II can make plays. Defensively, Maryland leads the conference in solo tackles (137) and interceptions (7), while Wisconsin’s run defense has been strong (46.3 rush yds. allowed per game) — though their passing game remains a concern.

Prediction

This should be a close and physical Big Ten opener. Home-field advantage, experience, and Wisconsin’s toughness give them a slight edge, but Maryland’s momentum, fresh coaching energy, and Washington’s poise could make it tight.

Expect Wisconsin to win, but only by a modest margin in a grind-it-out affair.

Projected Score: Wisconsin 21, Maryland 13

How to Watch Maryland vs. Wisconsin

Kickoff for today’s game between Maryland and Wisconsin is set for 12:00 PM Eastern / 11:00 AM Central at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.

The game airs live nationally on NBC.
