Former Smiths frontman Morrissey canceled two shows this weekend after a \u201ccredible threat\u201d was made on his life, according to a social media announcement.<\/p>\n
The singer-songwriter was scheduled to perform at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn., on Friday night, and at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston on Saturday.<\/p>\n
In a post<\/a> to his official Instagram Friday, Morrissey announced both shows would be canceled.<\/p>\n \u201cDue to recent events and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and band, the upcoming shows this weekend at Foxwoods and MGM Music Hall have been cancelled,\u201d the post reads.<\/p>\n \u201cAll tickets will be refunded automatically at your original point of purchase. We appreciate your understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n MGM explained in its own post<\/a> that \u201cthere [had] been a credible threat on Morrissey\u2019s life.\u201d <\/p>\n The cancellation follows the recent arrest of 26-year-old Ottawa man Noah Castellano, who was charged with threats to cause death or bodily harm after threatening Morrissey on Blue Sky. <\/p>\n Rolling Stone<\/a> reports that Castellano, under an account titled \u201cguy who gets shot in the head one hundred thousand times a day,\u201d posted on Sept. 4, \u201cSteven Patrick Morrissey when you perform at TD Place here in Ottawa next week on the evening of September 12th, 2025 at about 9pm, I will be present at the venue in the audience and I will attempt to shoot you many times and kill you with a very large gun that I own illegally.\u201d<\/p>\n Morrissey went on to perform at Ottawa\u2019s CityFolk festival following the threat.<\/p>\n Castellano posted $5,000 bail and is currently mandated to live at the Washington, D.C., area home of his father, according to Rolling Stone.<\/p>\n Morrissey has not stated whether this weekend\u2019s cancellations arose out of another threat or are connected to the previous threats from Castellano.<\/p>\n If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
