{"id":242122,"date":"2025-09-20T19:15:23","date_gmt":"2025-09-20T19:15:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/242122\/"},"modified":"2025-09-20T19:15:23","modified_gmt":"2025-09-20T19:15:23","slug":"mark-ronson-celebrates-night-people-at-new-york-citys-chez-nous","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/242122\/","title":{"rendered":"Mark Ronson Celebrates &#8216;Night People&#8217; at New York City&#8217;s Chez Nous"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThis week in New York, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/mark-ronson\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Ronson<\/a> celebrated his 50th birthday \u2014 and the launch of his book, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/dp\/1538741113?tag=billboard0ad-20&amp;linkCode=ogi&amp;th=1&amp;psc=1&amp;language=en_US&amp;asc_source=web&amp;asc_campaign=web&amp;asc_refurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.billboard.com%2Fmusic%2Fmusic-news%2Fmark-ronson-night-people-book-chez-nous-new-york-1236071333%2F\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Night People: How to Be a DJ in \u201990s New York City<\/a> \u2014 and all of the right \u201cnight people\u201d were there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tRonson\u2019s literary agent David Kuhn hosted the star-packed party at his new hot spot Chez Nous, the newly opened restaurant he co-owns inside the historic Marlton Hotel in Greenwich Village, and in his toast, Kuhn recalled meeting Ronson in the \u201980s, when \u201cMark was a teenager who was starting to DJ at clubs that were way cooler than I was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI first met Mark at one of his miraculous mother Ann\u2019s legendary Sunday brunches in the 1980s, always a mix of uptown and downtown, the famous and sometime infamous, and always multi-generational,\u201d Kuhn recalled in his speech, describing the gatherings thrown by Ronson\u2019s mother, Ann Dexter-Jones, who married <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/foreigner\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Foreigner<\/a> guitarist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.billboard.com\/artist\/mick-jones\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mick Jones<\/a> after divorcing his father.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cMost of you know this was the social and cultural swirl that Mark grew up in, one that might have caused another kid in his shoes to become jaded, or entitled, or lazy, or unfocused. And the amazing thing about Mark is that he is not only none of those things but actually the opposite of all of them: he grew up to be curious, grateful, incredibly hard working, determined, and most of all humble, this despite his incredible talent and success.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhile music stars often enlist ghostwriters to help pen their memoirs, Kuhn said that \u201cit was quickly apparent that not only could Mark write the book himself, but that he was a natural and gifted writer. Because he innately possessed the core strengths of a literary memoirist: hard won self-knowledge; a gift for storytelling; excellent recall; an ear for dialogue, a point of view, and a big, generous heart.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tRosnon initially wondered if he needed to work with a co-writer, but he and Kuhn decided instead that \u201che would just start putting stories down on the page and see where that led.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cMark said that he wanted to tell the story in this book to capture the milieu of the \u201990s that he grew up in, especially for younger folks who weren\u2019t there, and also to honor those who he credited with his musical education, especially those no longer around,\u201d Kuhn said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cAs Mark writes in the book, and is now speaking about in interviews, one of the addictive pleasures of being a DJ has always been to use his musical tastes and instincts to light up a dance floor and give a room full of strangers unmitigated pleasure.
