{"id":242427,"date":"2025-09-20T22:11:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-20T22:11:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/242427\/"},"modified":"2025-09-20T22:11:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-20T22:11:11","slug":"the-john-stamos-butter-sculpture-is-back-at-riot-fest-now-fans-await-the-man-himself","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/242427\/","title":{"rendered":"The John Stamos butter sculpture is back at Riot Fest; now fans await the man himself"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Riot Fest\u2019s got a one-sided infatuation with John Stamos, and it\u2019s lasted for over a decade. <\/p>\n<p>But this year, it seems like Stamos has warmed up, albeit \u201cbegrudgingly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As part of that seemingly unrequited love that began in 2013, the festival <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/chicago.suntimes.com\/music\/2024\/09\/22\/riot-fest-2024-john-stamos-butter-statue-sculpture\" target=\"_blank\" data-cms-ai=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">last year unveiled a sculpture<\/a> of Stamos depicted as a Greek god, with perfectly chiseled abs and a killer smile. He\u2019s leaning on a stick of butter, too.<\/p>\n<p>The larger-than-life sculpture holds court near the Riotland carnival area, where fans were seen taking selfies and photos Friday, the first day of the fest.<\/p>\n<p>Spoiler alert: It\u2019s not actually made of butter, but it\u2019s a bigger recreation of a real butter statue Riot Fest had made more than a decade ago. They <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/riotfest.org\/2016\/07\/07\/tbt-one-time-made-butter-sculpture-john-stamos\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-cms-ai=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">enlisted<\/a> food sculpture artist Jim Victor to make it.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s all part of the long-running joke when the festival <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RiotFest\/status\/347170946722983936?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E347170946722983936%7Ctwgr%5Ea1679a6c1f97fc01d89f3878c1198123777820d6%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Friotfest.org%2F2016%2F07%2F07%2Ftbt-one-time-made-butter-sculpture-john-stamos%2F\" target=\"_blank\" data-cms-ai=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow\">took to X<\/a> to beg Stamos\u2019 former band, Jesse &amp; The Rippers, to reunite and perform at the fest when it was still being held in Humboldt Park.<\/p>\n<p>But Stamos mostly ignored Riot Fest until they debuted their butter bust of his likeness, calling it \u201cpretty frightening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe thought it embodied the true definition of beauty,\u201d the festival <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/riotfest.org\/2016\/07\/07\/tbt-one-time-made-butter-sculpture-john-stamos\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-cms-ai=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">wrote<\/a> on its website.<\/p>\n<p>This year, organizers announced that Stamos, after years of taunts, \u201ctentatively\/begrudgingly agreed\u201d to appear at the fest and sit in on drums for previously announced act The Beach Boys, continuing a special guest spot he\u2019s held in the band on and off for 40 years. <\/p>\n<p>The Beach Boys are performing in the penultimate set Saturday on the Riot Stage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Riot Fest\u2019s got a one-sided infatuation with John Stamos, and it\u2019s lasted for over a decade.
