Photo: Handout<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The place that gave the famous Waldorf salad its name is also where one of the most beloved hotel perks was invented: room service.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">While you could spend hours holding forth about the hotel\u2019s history, the Waldorf Astoria is not resting on its laurels.<\/p>\n<p>New York is already home to properties from five-star chains such as St Regis, Peninsula, Aman and <a target=\"_self\" class=\"e1yy41x40 ef9u0v01 css-1ankfgb ecgc78b0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scmp.com\/magazines\/style\/lifestyle\/travel-hotels\/article\/3317875\/looking-luxury-stays-london-mandarin-oriental-hyde-park-and-mandarin-oriental-mayfair-offer-unique?module=inline&amp;pgtype=article\" title=\"\" data-qa=\"BaseLink-renderAnchor-StyledAnchor\" rel=\"noopener\">Mandarin Oriental<\/a>. The art deco touches, the gleaming steel and bronze paired with polished marble, the historic murals and the soaring hallways take you back to a time when moguls like Rockefeller and Carnegie roamed these halls.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Its legacy aside, the hotel\u2019s renovation has been nothing short of spectacular.
