A stage presentation for the My Hero Academia<\/a> franchise at the KyoMAF event on Sunday revealed that the second season<\/a> of the television anime<\/a> of Hideyuki Furuhashi<\/a> and Betten Court<\/a>‘s My Hero Academia: Vigilantes (Vigilante: Boku no Hero Academia Illegals<\/a>) manga will debut in January 2026.<\/p>\n

The event also revealed a visual.<\/p>\n

The first season premiered on April 7 on the Tokyo MX<\/a> and BS NTV<\/a> channels. Crunchyroll<\/a> streamed the series worldwide excluding Asia, and also streamed<\/a> an English dub.<\/p>\n

Kenichi Suzuki<\/a> (Cells at Work!<\/a>, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure<\/a>) directed the first season BONES<\/a>‘ newly established<\/a> company BONES FILM<\/a>. Y\u014dsuke Kuroda<\/a> returned from the main My Hero Academia anime to write and oversee the series scripts. Takahiko Yoshida<\/a> (Yowamushi Pedal<\/a>, Cells at Work!) designed the characters. Yuki Hayashi<\/a> returned from the main anime to compose the music alongside Sh\u014dgo Yamashiro<\/a> and Y\u016bki Furuhashi<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Yukihiro Watanabe<\/a> was the art director, Haruko Nobori<\/a> was the color designer, Yingying Zhang<\/a> was the director of photography, Mizuki Sasaki<\/a> was the 3DCG director, Kiyoshi Hirose<\/a> was the editor, and Masafumi Mima<\/a> was the sound director.<\/p>\n

The manga is a spinoff of K\u014dhei Horikoshi<\/a>‘s My Hero Academia manga. The spinoff takes place before the start of the main manga. Viz Media<\/a> describes the story of the first volume:\n<\/p>\n

\n\tKoichi Haimawari couldn’t make the cut to become an official hero, so he uses his modest Quirk to do good deeds in his spare time. Then one day a fateful encounter with some local thugs leads him to team up with two other unlikely heroes. None of them really know what they’re doing, but they’ve got the courage\u2014or foolishness\u2014to try. But they soon discover fighting evil takes more than just being brave\u2026\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Furuhashi and Court launched<\/a> the manga in Shueisha<\/a>‘s Shonen Jump GIGA<\/a> magazine in August 2016. The manga then relaunched<\/a> on Shonen Jump+<\/a> in December 2016. Viz Media began releasing<\/a> the manga digitally in English in August 2017, and also published<\/a> the manga in print. Shueisha’s MANGA Plus<\/a> service also released the manga in English digitally. The manga ended<\/a> in May 2022, and had 15 compiled book volumes.<\/p>\n
