Customers at one of Sydney<\/a>‘s\u00a0most popular inner-city restaurants have been forced to evacuate during the dinner service after a fire broke out in the kitchen.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to the restaurant on George Street in the city’s centre about 7.30pm on Sunday night, NSW<\/a>\u00a0Police confirmed.<\/p>\n

Pictures show multiple firetrucks were dispatched to the scene as a large crowd gathered outside the venue, which is part of the trendy Ivy Precinct. Nearby Jimmy’s Falafel was also caught up in the chaos with the restaurant also forced to evacuate.<\/p>\n

It’s understood there were no serious injuries and the fire is under control.<\/p>\n

Totti’s is owned by the Justin Hemmes-run Merivale group, with the eatery having three locations all up.<\/p>\n

It fast made a name for itself as the place to be among Sydney’s elites after its first location opened its doors at The Royal Bondi in December 2018.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The interiors were inspired by an Italian taverna, featuring old timber chairs along with paired-back walls and huge olive trees that filled out the lavish courtyard.<\/p>\n

The highly regarded menu, was created by executive chef Mike Eggert, featuring an array of Italian dishes from pasta and antipasti to its famous ‘puffy’ wood-fired bread.<\/p>\n

Diners were forced to stand outside the restaurant when Totti’s and nearby Jimmy’s Falafel were evacuated<\/p>\n

The Bondi, Rozelle and George Street venues are considered among the trendiest of casual dining hot spots for Sydneysiders.<\/p>\n

The restaurant has become so iconic in Sydney, that it was once even the victim of an apparent ‘copycat’ in Paris.<\/p>\n
