Canelo Alvarez<\/strong> dropped a unanimous decision<\/a> to Terence Crawford<\/strong> last Saturday (Sept. 13, 2025) in Las Vegas, Nevada, coughing up his undisputed Super Middleweight title in the process. It was a tough blow for Canelo, who suffered just the third loss of his professional boxing career. Though a valiant effort, he was thoroughly outclassed by a man jumping up a few weight classes.<\/p>\n

After the defeat Alvarez\u2019s former business partner, Oscar de la Hoya<\/strong>, was quick to capitalize on the opportunity to kick his former friend while down in the only way \u201cThe Golden Boy\u201d knows how to.<\/p>\n

\u201cGod it makes me horny to tell you I told you so,\u201d De La Hoya said on Instagram<\/a>. \u201cI predicted the Canelo-Crawford fight like a godd*amn fortune teller. Canelo\u2019s feet were cemented on the canvas and he was hitting air. What the f*ck was that,\u201d he said before giving Craford his roses, and adding a few more shots to the onslaught on Alvarez.<\/p>\n

\u201cProps to Crawford. He came up three weight classes and fought a beautiful fight. What a great performance. Like taking candy from a baby. He just played with Canelo. Made him look silly and before you start with your shit about Canelo being old, just know that Crawford is older! That\u2019s not an excuse here.\u201d<\/p>\n

De La Hoya and Canelo had an ugly falling out<\/a>, which is why both men have no issue taking verbal jabs at one another. According to \u201cThe Golden Boy,\u201d Alvarez whittled under the pressure of fighting high-caliber fighters and wasn\u2019t that great to work with.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook, I promoted Canelo his entire career and it was a huge flub,\u201d De La Hoya said. \u201cThe only real fighters he\u2019s faced were [Floyd] Mayweather, [Dmitry] Bivol and Crawford and they all toyed with him. Even Mayweather knew Crawford was going to school him. He put $50,000 on Crawford to win.\u201d<\/p>\n

While it\u2019s natural for friends-turned enemies to downplay the other\u2019s success, it\u2019s an unfair jab at Canelo, who has defeated several top-tier fighters such as Amir Khan, Gennady Golovkin, Shane Mosely and Miguel Cotto, just to name a few.<\/p>\n

But De La Hoya didn\u2019t stop there as he also took aim a UFC CEO, Dana White, who spearheaded the promotional duties for the mega-event\u2026or did he<\/a>? In particular, \u201cThe Golden Boy\u201d unleashed on White for how he handled a certain report during the pre-fight press conference who grilled him about the Muhammad Ali Act (see it again here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

\u201cDana White didn\u2019t have his best week. His t-shirt shrank smaller every minute, especially when he was questioned about amending the Muhammad Ali Act,\u201d he said. \u201cSo you\u2019re saying this reporter\u2019s an asshole because he\u2019s asking a legitimate question? That\u2019s because the Muhammad Ali Act protects fighters and TKO needs it to change so they can f*ck fighters over.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for what\u2019s next for Canelo, a fight against Hamzah Sheeraz <\/strong>might be on the horizon, though it is unlikely to happen until next year. As for Crawford\u2019s next move, he has no plans at the moment<\/a> after making history in \u201cSin City.\u201d<\/p>\n
