{"id":243975,"date":"2025-09-21T13:31:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-21T13:31:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/243975\/"},"modified":"2025-09-21T13:31:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-21T13:31:10","slug":"nba-africa-head-calls-um6ps-basketball-initiative-game-changer-for-youth-empowerment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/243975\/","title":{"rendered":"NBA Africa Head Calls UM6P\u2019s Basketball Initiative \u2018Game Changer\u2019 for Youth Empowerment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rabat \u2014 As Morocco\u2019s Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) continues to position itself at the forefront of sports-driven youth development in Africa, its recent launch of the country\u2019s first Junior NBA League received recognition from NBA Africa President Amadou Gallo Fall.<\/p>\n<p>Launched through its subsidiary EVOSPORT in partnership with NBA Africa and Act4Community, the initiative <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.moroccoworldnews.com\/2025\/09\/260032\/morocco-launches-first-junior-nba-league-with-um6p-and-nba-africa\/\" rel=\"noopener\">demonstrates<\/a> UM6P\u2019s commitment to using sport as a catalyst for social transformation.<\/p>\n<p>Fall recognized UM6P\u2019s leadership in bringing this vision of creating a sustainable foundation for basketball development in Morocco to reality.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Morocco World News (MWN), the NBA Africa chief said, \u201cWe are here to launch NBA Africa\u2019s partnership with the UM6P and also in partnership with EVOSPORT and Act4Community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to MWN during the launch at UM6P\u2019s Benguerir campus, he confirmed that the partnership, which was announced back in February, provides an \u201cincredible [feeling] to see the interest and the momentum for basketball in Morocco.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fall, who played center at the University of the District of Columbia before joining the Dallas Mavericks and later establishing the NBA\u2019s Johannesburg office in 2010, brings crucial international expertise to UM6P\u2019s initiative. His involvement validates the UM6P\u2019s strategic positioning in African sports development.<\/p>\n<p>The NBA Africa partnership provides essential credibility and technical support for UM6P\u2019s ambitious program, as the organization has demonstrated continental impact since opening NBA Academy Africa in Senegal in 2017, making UM6P\u2019s collaboration strategically significant for both organizations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn April, we hosted our Kalahari Conference here, the Basketball Africa League with FISA Rabat representing Morocco. We were very impressed by just the attendance of fans that came and supported FISA Rabat,\u201d Fall noted.<\/p>\n<p>The NBA Africa president spoke of Morocco\u2019s basketball potential that UM6P is now channeling through structured development \u2013 with a vision that extends beyond athletic training.<\/p>\n<p>The university views the Junior NBA League as part of its mission to contribute to Morocco\u2019s socio-economic transformation through sports, aligning with the national strategy to position Morocco as a leading sports hub regionally and globally.<\/p>\n<p>Fall described the initiative as \u201ca game changer in terms of just popularizing basketball, but most importantly, giving young talented Moroccan boys and girls an opportunity to play basketball and to grow up with the values of the game, to become better citizens, better members of communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Through EVOSPORT, the university <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.moroccoworldnews.com\/2025\/01\/165398\/nba-africa-um6p-launch-landmark-youth-basketball-initiative-in-morocco\/\" rel=\"noopener\">has created<\/a> Morocco\u2019s most ambitious basketball development program, targeting over 2,000 boys and girls aged 12 to 16 across Benguerir, Khouribga, Laayoune, El Jadida, and Safi.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, the CEO of EVOSPORT Ismail Lyoubi said that \u201cthrough this partnership, our ambition is to go beyond the realm of sport and turn it into a societal project.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The program represents UM6P\u2019s broader strategy to transform Morocco\u2019s sports industry while positioning the country as a regional hub for athletic excellence and youth development.<\/p>\n<p>EVOSPORT\u2019s approach combines local infrastructure with international standards.
