{"id":244218,"date":"2025-09-21T15:57:12","date_gmt":"2025-09-21T15:57:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/244218\/"},"modified":"2025-09-21T15:57:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-21T15:57:12","slug":"andre-agassi-names-the-player-at-the-laver-cup-who-has-a-forehand-that-everybody-is-scared-of-facing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/244218\/","title":{"rendered":"Andre Agassi names the player at the Laver Cup who has a forehand that\u00a0\u2018everybody\u00a0is scared\u2019 of facing"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Team World have taken a commanding 9-3 lead at the Laver Cup after a full sweep on day two of the event. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/reilly-opelka-says-what-is-totally-bizarre-about-the-tennis-courts-at-the-laver-cup-after-losing-to-casper-ruud\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Team Europe got their noses in front<\/a> on the opening day, captain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/andre-agassi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Andre Agassi<\/a>\u2018s side responded with four straight-set victories. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/alex-de-minaur\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alex de Minaur<\/a> kicked things off with a convincing win over world number three <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/alexander-zverev\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alexander Zverev<\/a>, before partnering with Alex Michelsen later on to come out on top in doubles. <\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the most impressive result was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/news\/shocked-carlos-alcaraz-reveals-what-he-said-to-taylor-fritz-straight-after-losing-to-him-at-the-laver-cup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Taylor Fritz beating Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> for the first time in his career, with the American number one besting the world number one 6-3, 6-2. <\/p>\n<p>The scoreboard going into day three looks good for Team World, who have a player Agassi thinks Team Europe are \u2018scared to death\u2019 of. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-2236512992-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Team World celebrates on day two of the 2025 Laver Cup.\" \/>Photo by Ezra Shaw\/Getty Images for Laver CupAndre Agassi hails his Team World star after Laver Cup day two<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=m8xu_DYnjKI&amp;t=49s\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Tennis Channel<\/a> after his team took the lead, the eight-time major champion said: \u201cListen, these guys are here because they have a great brain of their own. Let\u2019s start with that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have great abilities physically. You know, my hope is to remind them what makes them the best of themselves, right?<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause I think it\u2019s easy to lose that perspective sometimes when you\u2019re in a battle. I do compare it to boxing because I think you have to know your identity as a tennis player.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf your left jab is hurting somebody, why take a risk and throw a maker, right? I mean, just stay there all day until they finally tap out or somebody says unanimous decision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/GettyImages-2236512965-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Andre Agassi reacts on day two of the Laver Cup in 2025.\" \/>Photo by Joe Scarnici\/Getty Images for Laver Cup<\/p>\n<p>Agassi then gave high praise to his Team World star, Francisco Cerundolo, who defeated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetennisgazette.com\/tag\/holger-rune\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Holger Rune<\/a> 6-3, 7-6 to clinch another two points. <\/p>\n<p>The American said: \u201cYou know, when you\u2019ve got a guy like Francisco, I mean, everybody is scared to death when he gets set to unload on his forehand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI love his court position being in a place where he\u2019s constantly putting that fear into guys. I love that he returns with the intention of getting neutral to slightly better, doesn\u2019t try to do too much, but knows he wants to get advantage in the point.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, he plays the big targets with aggression.
