Two commanders of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps were killed in separate strikes Saturday \u2014 including the \u201cfounder of the Iranian regime\u2019s plan to destroy Israel,\u201d officials in Tel Aviv said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Saeed Izadi was assasinated when the Jewish state rained missiles down on an apartment in Iran\u2019s Qom province, Israel\u2019s Defense Minister Israel Katz said.<\/p>\n

Izadi led the Palestine Corps of the overseas arm, known as the Quds Force, which was a \u201ckey coordinator\u201d between Iran and Hamas \u2014 and helped arm the terrorist group ahead of its Oct. 7, 2023 massacre.<\/p>\n
His main objective was to keep Hamas in control of Gaza, but he also directed forces who were operating from Lebanon, according to Katz.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Israeli\u00a0military\u00a0later said that it\u00a0killed\u00a0a second commander of the\u00a0Guards\u2019 overseas arm, who it identified as Benham Shariyari, during a strike on his vehicle overnight in western Tehran. Israeli Air Force<\/p>\n
\u201cAs part of his role, Izadi was responsible for increasing the financial funding from Iran to Hamas for terrorist activities against Israel,\u201d Katz\u00a0said in an X post.<\/a><\/p>\n
The IDF also said it had \u201celiminated\u201d Benham Shahriyari during a strike on his vehicle overnight in western Iran.<\/p>\n

The Quds Force built up a network of Arab allies known as the\u00a0Axis of Resistance, and is responsible for establishing Hezbollah in Lebanon in 1982. It is also a strong supporter of Hamas in Gaza.<\/p>\n
The assassinations come as Iran and Israel entered the ninth day of conflict, exchanging fresh attacks early Saturday. They also come a day after Tehran said it would not negotiate over its\u00a0nuclear program\u00a0while under threat and Europe tried to keep peace talks alive.<\/p>\n
Israel has since targeted the Isfahan nuclear facility, one of the nation\u2019s biggest, but failed to cause any major hazardous materials.<\/p>\n
Israel also attacked a building in the city of Qom, with reports that a 16-year-old was killed and two others injured.<\/p>\n
