Mentoring, counseling, upgrades and more"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fort Worth school trustees approved more than $30.6 million in purchases during their Aug. 26 meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The FWISD school board signed off on delayed contracts for college and mental health partnerships as well as a bevy of construction agreements associated with the $1.2 billion bond from 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Big items include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>$5.9 million for an attendance credit from the Texas Education Agency. The credit effectively reduces the district\u2019s revenue to lower the amount of money it must pay under <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2022\/08\/24\/this-is-new-to-us-fort-worth-isd-expects-to-send-2-million-to-state-under-robin-hood-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">the state\u2019s recapture law<\/a>. The state\u2019s so-called Robin Hood law requires some funds from property rich districts, which FWISD is considered, be redistributed to poorer districts.<\/li>\n<li>$2 million contract with Communities in Schools of Greater Tarrant County and a nearly $1.5 million agreement with the Tarrant To &amp; Through Partnership. Both contracts were paused during the summer after <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/07\/17\/fwisd-mentoring-college-readiness-programs-at-risk-after-feds-delay-6-8b\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">federal officials froze<\/a> \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2025\/07\/30\/fwisd-cant-count-on-nearly-10m-from-feds-after-funding-freeze-superintendent-says-heres-why\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">then later released<\/a> \u2014 $6.8 billion in national education funding.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>A combined $12.7 million in <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2024\/03\/27\/whats-happening-with-fort-worth-isds-2021-bond-heres-where-1-2b-program-stands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">2021 bond<\/a>-related contracts, including $4 million for moving services and $1.5 million for roof consulting services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Jacob Sanchez is education editor for the Fort Worth Report.
