{"id":244597,"date":"2025-09-21T19:41:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-21T19:41:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/244597\/"},"modified":"2025-09-21T19:41:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-21T19:41:10","slug":"canada-uk-and-australia-all-recognize-palestinian-state-as-rebuke-to-israel-for-gaza-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/244597\/","title":{"rendered":"Canada, UK and Australia all recognize Palestinian state as rebuke to Israel for Gaza war"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The United Kingdom, Canada and Australia officially<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/07\/29\/world-news\/uk-will-recognize-palestinian-state-unless-israel-agrees-to-cease-fire-allows-un-aid-into-gaza-pm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0recognized Palestine as a UN member state<\/a>\u00a0Sunday\u2014 becoming the first major Western powers to do so despite furious objections from both the US and Israel.<\/p>\n<p>The decision, which comes ahead of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/20\/world-news\/zelensky-says-he-will-meet-with-trump-in-nyc-next-week\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">United Nations General Assembly in Manhattan<\/a>\u00a0later this month, is part of a rebuke of Israel by the nations over the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/09\/20\/world-news\/edan-alexander-freed-us-hamas-hostage-returning-to-israel-to-fight\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Jewish state\u2019s war in Gaza.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The move was immediately met with rage from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have a clear message to those leaders who recognize a Palestinian state after the terrible massacre of October 7: You are giving a huge reward to terrorism,\u201d he said in a televised statement after a cabinet meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt will not happen. There will not be a Palestinian state west of the Jordan,\u2019\u2019 he vowed.<\/p>\n<p>Canada has become one of the first Western powers to recognize a Palestinian state. X\/@MarkJCarney<\/p>\n<p>A White House official doubled down on the US\u2019s position in backing its ally, too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs the president stated, he would be rewarding Hamas and would be hindering efforts to bring home the hostages if he recognizes a Palestinian state, and he doesn\u2019t think they should be rewarded,\u201d the official told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo he is not going to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Israeli officials have even threatened annexing the West Bank in response.<\/p>\n<p>Far-right Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir joined Netanyahu in slamming the decision as the West capitulating to Hamas despite the terrorists\u2019 actions on Oct. 7, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe recognition by the UK, Canada, and Australia of a \u2018Palestinian\u2019 state, as a prize for the murderous Nukhba terrorists, requires immediate countermeasures,\u201d Gvir said as he reiterated demands for Israel\u2019s full annexation of the West Bank.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Netanyahu has said he would fight against the recognition of Palestine with the international body, with the premier set to coordinate with President Trump in slamming it at the UN assembly. <\/p>\n<p>Palestine is already officially recognized as a state by more than half of the UN\u2019s nearly 200 members but only has \u201cobserver\u201d status and cannot vote.<\/p>\n<p>Trump has long rejected the idea of formally recognizing a Palestinian state, with his administration warning that Israel would retaliate with the annexation of the West Bank.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRecognition of a \u2018State of Palestine\u2019 is empty virtue signaling that only rewards the Hamas butchers and rapists,\u201d House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast (R-Fla.) said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The Hostages and Missing Families Forum, a group that represents the Israeli captives still held by Hamas and their relatives, also condemned the statehood recognition as a victory for the terrorists.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Demonstrators gather in Tel Aviv, Israel, during an anti-government protest organized by the families of the Israeli hostages Saturday. AFP via Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOffering such significant political rewards without securing the return of all 48 of our loved ones represents a catastrophic failure of political, moral, and diplomatic leadership that will severely damage efforts to bring them all home,\u201d the group said in a statement.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But British Prime Minister Keir Starmer defended the move as a means to end the war in Gaza, which is approaching its third year and has left nearly the entire Palestinian enclave in ruins.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, to revive the hope of peace and a two-state solution, I state clearly as the prime minister of this great country that the United Kingdom formally recognises the State of Palestine,\u201d he wrote on X.<\/p>\n<p>Starmer claimed that the recognition should not be viewed as an endorsement of Hamas, slamming the militants as \u201ca brutal terror organization.<\/p>\n<p>Displaced Palestinians live in a tent camp in Muwasi in southern Gaza.
