High pressure that is causing extreme heat in the northeast will begin to move back to the west, decreasing rain chances for the start of July. <\/p>\n High pressure builds westTracking the tropics:<\/b><\/p>\n In the tropics, we\u2019re keeping an eye on Tropical Depression Two. Sunday afternoon it will likely strengthen to tropical storm Barry as it continues to move NW towards Mexico. By Monday morning making landfall near Tampico, Mexico, then rapidly decreasing as it pushes over land. However, the storm will dump up to 8 inches across southeastern Mexico. <\/p>\n By Sunday afternoon upgrading to a tropical storm<\/p>\n Saharan dust continues to move across the Atlantic basin, and a plume reaches SE Texas on Sunday and will stay until at least Wednesday. This dense plume of dust will reduce air quality and lead to hazy skies.<\/p>\n Sunday through at least Wednesday expect hazy skies and poor air quality<\/p>\n Remember, the Atlantic hurricane season lasts through November. Here in SE Texas, we see the tropical season peak in September, but we can see a storm anytime from now through the fall. Last year, Hurricane Beryl made landfall early in the morning on July 8th.<\/p>\n
