PR photo<\/p>\n<p>During Sept. 25-28, and with preview festivities throughout the summer, Chicago Gourmet returns with the sports\/food theme \u201cStep Up to the Plate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for a few of the main events, Tacos &amp; Tequila will take place Sept. 25, 6-9 p.m., with participating chefs such as John Manson, Carlos Gayt\u00e1n, Diana D\u00e1vila and Dan Harris. Hamburger Hop will again return to the Harris Theater rooftop of Sept. 26, 6-9 p.m. with competitors such as Martial Noguier (Bistronomic), Marco Colin (Moe\u2019s Cantina), Djibril Webb (Mordecai), and former Chicago Bear Israel Idonije and Stephen Gillanders (The Staley).<\/p>\n<p>In addition, there will again be two sessions of Grand Cru on Sept. 27 (2-5 and 7-10 p.m.) featuring Tony Priolo (Piccolo Sogno), Donald Young (Duck Sel), Carrie Nahabedian (Brindille) and Paul Virant (Petite Vie\/Vistro Prime\/Gaijin\/Jar Sessions), among many others, taking part.<\/p>\n<p>Be sure to find out about ALL the events at this\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagogourmet.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">link<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014Happy anniversary: The Fulton Market restaurant\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.carnivalechicago.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Carnivale<\/a>\u00a0held a party on Sept. 10 to mark\u00a0<strong>its 20th\u00a0anniversary<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Since opening in 2005, the Pan-Latin restaurant has welcomed more than 4.1 million guests, hosted more than 22,000 private events, celebrated 300,000 birthdays and sold more than 120,000 of its signature Cotton Candy Martinis. Over the past few years, the space has launched Copa Carnivale, a 90-minute dinner entertainment experience; the pop-up speakeasy The Alley at Carnivale; and Komal, a Latin-style six-seat omakase experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014The light way:\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.casachichicago.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Casa Chi by Chef Richard Sandoval<\/a>\u00a0is offering\u00a0<strong>Reform Cocktails<\/strong>\u2014a new lineup of handcrafted drinks under 120 calories. Highlights include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Skinny Ginger Margarita\u00a0(120 calories): Blanco tequila, fresh ginger, agave, lime, finished with a touch of hibiscus salt for a refreshing, light twist on a classic; and<\/li>\n<li>The Sake &amp; Mango\u00a0(100 calories): Crisp sake and sweet mango balanced with sparkling wine, offering a bubbly, low-calorie option for any occasion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On a related note, the restaurant has also announced its updated\u00a0<strong>Pour Decisions Boozy Tea Experience<\/strong>, available Sundays at 12-4 p.m. at $59 per person. Offerings include Jalisco Jasmine Passion Fruit Margarita, Hibiscus Paloma Punch, Earl Grey Breeze and Chamomile Coconut Cooler. Menu highlights include smoked swordfish, angry tuna and California makimono, hot stone Casa style with choice of prime skirt steak, shrimp or Provoleta cheese, and yuzu cheesecake for dessert.<\/p>\n<p>\u2014Cold front:\u00a0<strong>Ben &amp; Jerry\u2019s co-founder Jerry Greenfield<\/strong>\u00a0has left the ice-cream giant after Unilever, which owns the company, clamped down on any social activism,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/articles\/c4g58xx1eero\" target=\"_blank\">the BBC<\/a>\u00a0noted.<\/p>\n<p>Greenfield\u2019s departure marks the latest move in a battle that started in 2021 when Ben &amp; Jerry\u2019s said it would stop selling its ice cream in Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. Ben &amp; Jerry\u2019s has long been known for taking a public stance on social issues since it was founded in 1978, often backing campaigns on issues like LGBTQ+ rights and climate change.<\/p>\n<p>However, a Unilever spokesperson disagreed with Greenfield\u2019s position, saying Unilever had \u201csought to engage both co-founders in a constructive conversation on how to strengthen Ben &amp; Jerry\u2019s powerful values-based position in the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2014Field sip:\u00a0<strong>Negroni Week<\/strong>\u00a0is Sept. 22-28, and some places are marking it with cocktail specials.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, the Gold Coast spot\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.laurelchicago.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">LAUREL<\/a>\u00a0will offer the Passion Negroni, consisting of Barr Hill Gin, Chinola Passionfruit Liqueur, Carpano Antica Formula and Campari ($24); Purest, with Tanqueray Gin, Carpano Antica Formula and Campari ($18); and the Reserved, made with Nolet\u2019s Reserve Gin, Carpano Antica Formula, Campari and Saffron Rock Candy Swizzle ($70).<\/p>\n<p>Catalan spot\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mercatchicago.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mercat a la Planxa<\/a>\u00a0will offer Mack the Knife\u2014a \u201cnon-Negroni Negroni\u201d featuring Bonanto (a Barcelona aperitivo), Andalusian Barquero vermouth and GinRaw gin.<\/p>\n<p>In addition,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/mrichardspr-dot-yamm-track.appspot.com\/2Y37f3aLxNECn9P_M3RWCCh4I0GKvAxCry9cOAzlVewhz-0w5mQGn_xDmIy5u1fd58r2tXtq7jh1GwAnZfHyVqFRNXEQXxRUV2K3vmAHAoDCGlqWYpJENpgpgyETWlFW0x8SU-HDuiZSH3-WbUGRAbPf9c3beQLDfhSyhmv_Pf1p4-YJeKO8\" target=\"_blank\">LondonHouse Chicago<\/a>\u2019s featured Negroni will be a Pineapple Negroni ($20) made with Zacapa Rum, Plantation Pineapple Rum, Antica Vermouth, Campari, and pineapple and coconut bitters.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"624\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/I_O-Godfreys-Negronis.-Photo-credit-Amy-Ulivieri.jpg\" alt=\"I_O Godfrey's Negronis. The Petite Fleur Rouge is made with Citadelle, Lillet Rouge, Kina L\u2019Aero D\u2019or and grapefruit bitters; and the Figue Enchant\u00e9e contains Citadelle gin, Creme de Cerise, Cointreau, Campari and Lillet Rouge, finished with fresh cherry and fig.<\/p>\n<p>This Negroni Week,\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.adornrestaurant.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Adorn Bar &amp; Restaurant<\/a>\u00a0is elevating the classic cocktail experience through a partnership with Pernod Ricard. Guests are invited to discover seven unique Negroni variations via Adorn\u2019s exclusive Spinning Wheel Menu.
