CHICAGO \u2014 Newly signed pass rusher Jadeveon Clowney was a healthy scratch on Sunday.<\/a> Clowney, who signed during the week of the Bears game<\/a>, attended the contest but was left watching.<\/p>\n

There was a chance Clowney could play, but on Friday, team chief operating officer Stephen Jones told 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM) it was doubtful Clowney would suit up.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the end of the day, I feel like he still needs a little bit of time to ramp up,\u201d coach Brian Schottenheimer<\/a> said. \u201cHe hasn\u2019t played football. He wanted to go, but the concern would be if he had to play a lot of snaps, would he have been able to do that? He\u2019s doing everything he can in his power to be ready to go. Smith wasn\u2019t credited with any tackles.<\/p>\n

\u201cMazi, last three weeks he\u2019s been motivated and Jay understands,\u201d Schottenheimer said. \u201cReally, Jay did. It\u2019s really nothing Jay did. It\u2019s [that] Mazi has been consistent and showed us the flashes that we expect from him in practice.\u201d<\/p>\n
