SAN DIEGO \u2014 <\/strong>A hard-fought match between two San Diego sides went the way of No. 23 University of San Diego on Sunday night as Triton men’s soccer was defeated 1-0 on the road.

\n\u00a0
\nThe lone goal came in the 62nd minute. The Tritons moved to 0-5-2 on the year with the result, while USD improved to 6-1-2.

\nHOW IT HAPPENED<\/strong>
\nThe first shot of the match did not come until the 15-minute mark. USD got an effort on target, but Triton goalkeeper Nolan Premack<\/a> was able to get to his right side for the save. He would go on to make six saves in the match, three in each half.
\n\u00a0
\nThe Tritons registered one shot on target in the first and took the only first-half corner kick. The two teams would head into the break deadlocked at zero.
\n\u00a0
\nBoth teams had a flurry of chances to start the second half. UC San Diego striker Kai Oppenheim<\/a> had a shot on target that was saved by a USD defender. That effort was one of two that was on frame for the sophomore in the match.

\nUSD was ultimately the team to capitalize on its chances first, with a through ball unlocking the Triton defense in the 62nd minute. That goal proved to be the game’s only shot to find the back of the net, handing the Toreros a 1-0 victory.

\nThe Tritons registered four second-half corner kicks and two shots on target but were held scoreless. Tyler Cash<\/a> had the other shot on frame in the 79th minute.

Our guys have showed incredible resilience and grit this season. I am confident the growth and development of this team will continue and the results will come.
