{"id":246020,"date":"2025-09-22T09:41:13","date_gmt":"2025-09-22T09:41:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/246020\/"},"modified":"2025-09-22T09:41:13","modified_gmt":"2025-09-22T09:41:13","slug":"coronado-public-library-to-host-free-piano-recital-coronado-island-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/246020\/","title":{"rendered":"Coronado Public Library To Host Free Piano Recital | Coronado Island News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Coronado Public Library announces a free recital with the award-winning, international concert pianist, Dr. Vania Pimentel, Friday, April 24 at 7 p.m. on the Library\u2019s Steinway in the Winn Room.<\/p>\n<p>Pimentel, an audience favorite at the Brown Bag concerts, has planned a program entitled \u201cThe Great B\u2019s:\u00a0 Bach-Barber-Beethoven-Brahms.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Many concert goers and musicians may know \u201cThe Three B\u2019s,\u201d derived from Peter Cornelius in 1854, who was referring to Johann Sebastian Bach, Ludwig van Beethoven and Hector Berlioz.\u00a0 Later, the famous conductor Hans von Bulow substituted Johannes Brahms for Berlioz.\u00a0 These remain the three most famous classical composers for most people:\u00a0 Bach, Beethoven and Brahms.<\/p>\n<p>Pimentel, who has studied her great \u201cB\u2019s\u201d in depth, has added the important American composer, Samuel Barber (1910-1981), because she considers him to be a first-class or A+ grade piano composer.<\/p>\n<p>Born in Rio de Janeiro, the virtuosic Pimentel has performed solo recitals and in chamber music programs in the US, Brazil, and Europe since the 1970s.\u00a0She began receiving scholarships, honors and awards in piano competitions at the age of seven. She has earned both a BA in Piano and a BA in Philosophy from Brazil, a KA (a graduate diploma for the arts) from Germany, a MA and a DMA in Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Houston.\u00a0Pimentel belongs to the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society.<\/p>\n<p>Pimentel receives thunderous standing ovations.
