Nearly one week after Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s late-night show was indefinitely pulled off air<\/a>, \u201cThe View\u201d co-hosts addressed his suspension.<\/p>\n

\u201cDid y\u2019all really think we weren\u2019t going to talk about Jimmy Kimmel?\u201d Whoopi Goldberg asked Monday morning \u2014 after multiple episodes avoiding the matter.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, have you watched the show over the last 29 seasons?\u201d the EGOT winner, 69, continued. \u201cNo one silences us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Monday\u2019s conversation came nearly one week after \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d was pulled off air. ABC<\/p>\n

Goldberg explained that she and her co-hosts had taken \u201ca breath\u201d to see whether Kimmel would speak out regarding the scandal.<\/p>\n

Last Wednesday, \u201cJimmy Kimmel Live!\u201d was put on pause following the comedian\u2019s monologue about Charlie Kirk\u2019s death<\/a> and President Trump\u2019s reaction to the 31-year-old\u2019s Sept. 10 murder.<\/p>\n

ABC pulled the series after TV station conglomerate Nexstar Media expressed a \u201cstrong object[ion]\u201d to Kimmel\u2019s statements \u2014 and FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr threatened to launch an official probe into the 57-year-old and his show.<\/p>\n

\u201cDid y\u2019all really think we weren\u2019t going to talk about Jimmy Kimmel?\u201d Goldberg asked viewers. ABC<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cNo one silences us.\u201d ABC<\/p>\n

Kimmel has not issued a public statement \u2014 but was recently photographed smirking at his lawyer\u2019s office<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Goldberg railed against him being \u201cindefinitely pre-empted\u201d on Monday, saying, \u201cYou can not like [the] show and it can go off the air. Someone can say something they shouldn\u2019t and get taken off the air. But the government cannot apply pressure to force someone to be silenced.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ana Navarro chimed in, \u201cI don\u2019t understand how in this country, where the First Amendment was made to the constitution to guarantee freedom of the press and freedom of speech, how the government itself is using its weight and power to bully and scare people into silence.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is what dictators and authoritarians do,\u201d the 53-year-old, who \u201clived through a right-wing dictatorship in Nicaragua and \u2026 a left-wing dictatorship in Nicaragua,\u201d added. \u201cIt does not matter, the ideology.\u201d<\/p>\n

Alyssa Farrah Griffin agreed with her colleagues, saying, \u201cThe First Amendment is the first\u00a0for a reason because you need to\u00a0be able to hold those in power\u00a0accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n

After discussing the headlines with co-hosts Joy Behar, Sara Haines and Sunny Hostin, Goldberg noted that they \u201ctalk about freedom of speech a lot\u201d on their show, which has been running since 1997.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are always in somebody\u2019s mess because somebody has decided that we have said something that\u2019s offensive,\u201d she said. \u201cBut we fight for everybody\u2019s right to have freedom of speech because it means my speech is free, it means your speech is free.\u201d<\/p>\n

Page Six reported last Thursday that the ladies hosting \u201cThe View\u201d \u2014 which airs, like Kimmel\u2019s eponymous show, on ABC \u2014 had not been told \u201cnot to discuss it.\u201d<\/p>\n

A source told us the women would \u201cnot be silenced.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon have also spoken out in defense of Kimmel<\/a> since the news broke.<\/p>\n

Colbert, 61, announced in July that \u201cThe Late Show\u201d franchise is coming to an end<\/a> after 33 years, which Trump, 79, celebrated via Truth Social at the time \u2014 while calling for Kimmel to be \u201cnext.\u201d<\/p>\n

He wrote the same of Meyers and Fallon, both 51, last week, calling them \u201ctotal losers\u201d with \u201chorrible\u201d ratings.<\/p>\n

Howard Stern is the latest to clap back at ABC, with the 71-year-old shock jock blasting the network\u2019s \u201cridiculous\u201d decision<\/a> and boycotting by canceling his Disney+ subscription.<\/p>\n
