Fresh off the film\u2019s premiere at Fantastic Fest, the first official poster for Paramount\u2019s Primate<\/strong> has been revealed this week, giving us our very first look at the movie\u2019s killer chimp.<\/p>\n

Meet Ben. First you\u2019ll fall in love with him. Then he\u2019ll tear your heart right out of your chest.<\/p>\n

As Meagan explains in her review<\/a>, \u201cBen is practical, spectacularly crafted by\u00a0Millennium FX<\/strong>, and played by movement specialist\u00a0Miguel Torres Umba<\/strong>. The chimp\u2019s transformation from sweet pet to terrifying monster serves as the film\u2019s biggest asset, enhanced by chilling shot composition and expert pacing that tests even the steeliest of nerves.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPrimate may not ultimately impress for originality, but as an old school animal attack creature feature, it\u2019s an adrenaline rush of fun,\u201d Meagan\u2019s review for Bloody Disgusting continues.<\/p>\n

From Paramount\u2019s horror label 18hz Productions, Primate is directed by Johannes Roberts<\/strong>\u00a0(47 Meters Down,\u00a0The Strangers: Prey at Night,\u00a0Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City).<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the plot synopsis for Primate: \u201cHome from college, Lucy reunites with family including pet chimp Ben. Ben contracts rabies during a pool party and turns aggressive. Lucy and friends barricade in pool, devising ways to survive the vicious chimp.\u201d<\/p>\n

Primate\u00a0releases in theaters January 9, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Johannes Roberts co-wrote the screenplay for\u00a0Primate\u00a0with\u00a0Ernest Riera<\/strong>. The horror movie stars\u00a0Johnny Sequoyah<\/strong>\u00a0and Oscar\u00ae-winning\u00a0Troy Kotsur<\/strong>\u00a0(CODA).<\/p>\n

Walter Hamada<\/strong>\u00a0is producing\u00a0Primate, part of a new horror pact with Paramount.<\/p>\n
