San Jacinto 31-10. Mesa College improved to 2-2 with a 28-21 win at Palomar; the Olympians are ranked\u00a0No. 34 nationally and 22nd in California.<\/p>\n<p>Quarterback Brayten Silbor threw for 218 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 25 yards and a score against Mt. San Jacinto. Southwestern\u2019s Jamarei Ashby-Phan (15 carries, 68 yards) and Jamar Johnson (10 carries, 60 yards) led the ground attack, while Nic Cline (Torrey Pines High School) caught two passes for 83 yards, including a 65-yard touchdown.<\/p>\n<p>Reggie Johnson (Madison High School) completed 12 of 27 passes for 172 yards and a score and ran for a second touchdown in Mesa\u2019s win. Receiver Colin McCann (Poway High School) had two catches for 70 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown, and defensive lineman Marek Wojna returned a fumble 93 yards for a TD. Palomar quarterback K.J. Chatham (Lincoln High School) completed 16 of 39 passes for 138 yards with a touchdown and an interception and gained 63 yards on 12 carries.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere in JC football,\u00a0Grossmont College improved to 3-1 with a 48-10 victory over Los Angeles Valley College. Quarterback Melvin Spicer IV completed 22 of 45 passes for 293 yards and two scores and rushed 11 times for another 92 yards and two touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>Men\u2019s soccer<\/p>\n<p>The University of San Diego (6-1-2) defeated 20th-ranked UC Irvine 2-0 and UC San Diego 1-0 in a pair of home matches last week. Lucca Adams turned in the shutouts in both wins and lowered his goals-against average to 0.50 for the 23rd-ranked Toreros. Godwin Antwi and Davin Zachry scored the goals against UCI, while Steven Ramirez scored against UCSD, which fell to 0-5-2.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 San Diego State (3-6) defeated Yale 2-0 and lost to Cal Poly 2-0.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Point Loma Nazarene, which is ranked eighth in the Division II West Region, suffered a 2-1 loss to Cal State Dominguez Hills. The Sea Lions are 2-2-1.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Defending state champion and sixth-ranked Cuyamaca College is off to a 5-0-1 start. Ali Almaliki (My Academy Charter High) scored three goals in a 4-0 win over College of the Desert.<\/p>\n<p>Women\u2019s soccer<\/p>\n<p>Senior Grace Goins was named the Mountain West Conference Defensive Player of the Week and goalkeeper Kailey Carlen (Learning Choice Academy in Chula Vista) was named the Freshman of the Week as San Diego State improved to 4-2-2 with a 4-0 shutout win over Nevada and a 0-0 tie with Hawaii at home.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 USD (3-0-4) was off last week; UCSD (2-4-4) lost 1-0 to visiting Cal State Bakersfield.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 PLNU (3-2-1), which is ranked second in the NCAA Division II West Region, defeated Metro State 2-0 and Fort Lewis 1-0, with Nikki Ross scoring goals in each game.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Southwestern College (4-0-3) is 10th in the 3C2A rankings after a 3-0 victory at Cuyamaca College. Goalkeeper Aaliyah Campbell (Chula Vista High School) has a 0.43 goals-against average on the season. Miramar College (5-2-1) and Palomar Colege (4-1-1) are also off to fast starts.<\/p>\n<p>Women\u2019s Volleyball<\/p>\n<p>UCSD (2-10) defeated USD (7-4) in five sets on Saturday in the first Division I meeting between the schools at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. Ireland McNees (16 kills, 15 digs) and Molly McCluskey (14 kills,12 digs) paced the Tritons in the 25-22, 25-21, 17-25, 25-27, 16-14 win. Isabel Clark had a career-high 25 kills for USD.<\/p>\n<p>The Toreros had defeated Yale 3-1 and San Diego State 3-2 earlier in the SDSU\/USD Jack Talmadge Classic, while the Tritons had lost to both Yale and San Diego State. Aztecs Taylor Underwood and Amber Keen, Toreros Clark and Kali Engeman and Tritons Mika Rome and Kayla Uhlick made the all-tournament team.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Point Loma Nazarene, 8-1 and ranked sixth nationally, ran its winning streak to six straight with straight-sets victories over Biola and and Azusa Pacific.<\/p>\n<p>Men\u2019s tennis<\/p>\n<p>San Diego State\u2019s doubles team of Aleksi Lofman and Lars Johann scored two wins before losing in the quarterfinals of the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.<\/p>\n<p>Women\u2019s golf<\/p>\n<p>Cal State San Marcos opened the season by winning the RJGA Shootout in Goodyear, Ariz., by six strokes. Kiara Hernandez led the Cougars with a two-round, 2-under-par 142 to tie for second place. Avery Foster (144) finished fourth. Ellaclair Leedom (Cathedral Catholic High School) tied for sixth with a 146 and Abby Sickles tied for 13th with a 147.<\/p>\n<p>Men\u2019s golf<\/p>\n<p>The 25th-ranked San Diego State men tied for seventh at The Wohali Tournament in Coalville, Utah, despite playing without No. 1 Harry Takis due to a minor injury. Nathan Sampson tied for 14th at 213 to lead the Aztecs.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Cal State San Marcos finished fifth at the Chico State Wildcat Classic. Johnny Sprague shot a 212 to tie for 18th.<\/p>\n<p>Women\u2019s swimming and diving<\/p>\n<p>San Diego State defeated USD 33-24 at the Toreros\u2019 pool to win the annual season opener for both teams.
