{"id":247604,"date":"2025-09-23T00:55:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-23T00:55:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/247604\/"},"modified":"2025-09-23T00:55:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-23T00:55:10","slug":"lawmakers-push-sec-to-adopt-trumps-401k-crypto-plan-is-bitcoin-retirement-coming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/247604\/","title":{"rendered":"Lawmakers Push SEC To Adopt Trump\u2019s 401(k) Crypto Plan \u2014 Is Bitcoin Retirement Coming?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A coalition of House Republicans are <a href=\"https:\/\/financialservices.house.gov\/news\/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=410886\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">urging<\/a> the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to swiftly implement President Trump\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/markets\/bitcoin-surges-to-117k-as-trump-signs-401k-crypto-order-plans\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">recent executive order<\/a> that could allow millions of Americans to gain exposure to Bitcoin and other alternative assets through their 401(k) retirement accounts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"nitro-lazy\">Executive Order 14330, signed on August 7, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/08\/democratizing-access-to-alternative-assets-for-401k-investors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">directs<\/a> the SEC and Department of Labor (DOL) to update regulations so that retirement savers can diversify beyond the narrow confines of traditional stocks and bonds.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The policy explicitly backs the idea that \u201cevery American preparing for retirement should have access to funds that include investments in alternative assets\u201d where plan fiduciaries deem it appropriate.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In other words, for everyday savers, the order could mean finally having the freedom to put part of their hard-earned retirement money into assets they believe in \u2014 including Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">JUST IN: \ud83c\uddfa\ud83c\uddf8 US lawmakers urge SEC Chair Paul Aktins to implement President Trump&#8217;s executive order that would allow Bitcoin in 401(k)s \ud83d\udc4f <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/SgKDUHS1qr\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/SgKDUHS1qr<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Bitcoin Magazine (@BitcoinMagazine) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BitcoinMagazine\/status\/1970202082260197837?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">September 22, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>  House Lawmakers Push for Retirement Bitcoin <\/p>\n<p>In a letter to SEC Chairman <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/news\/senate-confirms-pro-bitcoin-paul-atkins-as-sec-chair\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paul Atkins<\/a>, Chairman French Hill, Rep. Ann Wagner, and seven other lawmakers praised Trump\u2019s order for the potential to democratize investing.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They urged regulators to revise existing guidance that currently blocks roughly 90 million Americans from allocating to asset classes long reserved for the wealthy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven these directives, we encourage the SEC to provide swift assistance to the Secretary of Labor and to make any necessary revisions to its current regulations and guidance,\u201d the letter stated. \u201cWe also request the SEC review bipartisan legislation being advanced in the 119th Congress concerning accredited investors. We are hopeful that such actions will help the 90 million Americans that are currently restricted from investing in alternative assets to secure a dignified, comfortable retirement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While \u201calternative assets\u201d broadly include private equity and venture capital, the order also creates a potential regulatory pathway for Bitcoin exposure inside tax-advantaged retirement plans.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Several committee members, including Rep. <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/tags\/warren-davidson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Warren Davidson<\/a>, have been vocal advocates for adding Bitcoin into existing mainstream financial infrastructures, framing it as both a hedge against monetary debasement and <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/industry-events\/bitcoin-2021-senator-representative\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">a tool for long-term savings<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmakers also pointed to bipartisan legislation advancing in the 119th Congress that would modernize the definition of \u201caccredited investor,\u201d another longstanding hurdle preventing ordinary Americans from accessing private markets and digital assets.<\/p>\n<p>If carried through, the executive order could mark a watershed moment for Bitcoin adoption in the United States.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For decades, <a href=\"https:\/\/bitcoinmagazine.com\/markets\/bitcoin-price-rallies-to-116000-as-trump-set-to-sign-an-eo-to-allow-bitcoin-and-crypto-to-401ks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Americans saving for retirement<\/a> have had little choice but to hold assets denominated in fiat currency \u2014 a system that, by design, loses purchasing power over time.
