Many North Texas cities are <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/tarrantcountyso\/status\/1938253080291627435\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:putting on firework shows;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">putting on firework shows<\/a>, but residents may want to take things into their own hands.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Before lighting up sparklers in the backyard, though, <b>Fort Worth residents should know the law<\/b> on fireworks.<\/p>\n<p>Can you light fireworks within city limits?<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The short answer: <b>No.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">No fireworks,<b> including sparklers and pop snaps,<\/b> can be set off within Fort Worth city limits, <a href=\"https:\/\/codelibrary.amlegal.com\/codes\/ftworth\/latest\/ftworth_tx\/0-0-0-16273\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:according to City code;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">according to City code<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The <b>only exception<\/b> to this rule is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tarrantcountytx.gov\/en\/fire-marshal\/general-information\/fireworks-information.html#:~:text=For%20those%20citizens%20wishing%20to,igniting%20or%20shooting%20of%20fireworks.\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:firework show that has been inspected;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">firework show that has been <b>inspected<\/b><\/a><b> by the Tarrant County Fire Marshal\u2019s Office<\/b> and <b>approved by the city of Fort Worth<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">For personal use, Tarrant County residents may only ignite fireworks in unincorporated areas of Tarrant County \u2014 that is, areas that do not have a local government. Here&#8217;s the law<\/a><\/p>\n<p>What happens if you do anyway?<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Outside of the possible damage and injuries of fireworks, if a resident violates any of the rules listed above, they will receive a <b>Class C Misdemeanor<\/b> and may<b> <a href=\"https:\/\/statutes.capitol.texas.gov\/docs\/pe\/htm\/pe.12.htm\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:face a fine of up to $200;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">face a fine of up to $200<\/a>. <\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">If any of the above violations result in <b>property damage of $200 or more or cause bodily injury or death<\/b>, they may face a <b>Class B Misdemeanor, <\/b>which could lead to a <b>fine of up to $2,000 or up to 180 days in jail.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfpa.org\/education-and-research\/home-fire-safety\/fireworks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:National Fire Protection Association reported;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">National Fire Protection Association reported<\/a> that fireworks started about 31,302 fires in 2022. In 2024, around 14,700 people were treated for firework-related injuries, including 11 deaths, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cpsc.gov\/Safety-Education\/Safety-Education-Centers\/Fireworks\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission<\/a>.
