Carson Branstine isn’t pleased with her Wimbledon draw.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Moments after her first-round opponent in SW19 was revealed, the Canadian took to social media to give her verdict.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe one day I\u2019ll get a good draw LOL,\u201d she said on X after learning she’ll play World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka in the first round.<\/p>\n

Branstine has made somewhat of a habit of drawing the top seeds at tournaments this year.<\/p>\n

At the Libema Open, her first-round opponent was top seed Liudmila Samsonova.<\/p>\n

While in the first round of Wimbledon<\/a> qualifying, she drew recent French Open<\/a> semi-finalist and top seed Lois Boisson.<\/p>\n

Now, after fighting her way into the main draw at Wimbledon, Sabalenka awaits her.<\/p>\n

In order to overcome the Belarusian, Branstine may have to channel the spirit of her compatriot Eugenie Bouchard<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bouchard became the first Canadian-born player to reach the final of a major singles tournament when she was a runner-up at Wimbledon in 2014.<\/p>\n

It was a fairytale run at just the age of 20, which ended at the hands of Petra Kvitova<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Bouchard has reached a career-high ranking of World No.5, another first in Canadian tennis. <\/p>\n

Although her biggest success is arguably her junior title at Wimbledon in 2012.<\/p>\n

That success made her the first Canadian ever, junior or professional, to win a major title in singles.<\/p>\n

If Branstine wants to draw any inspiration ahead of Wimbledon, she won’t have to look beyond her fellow countrywoman Bouchard.<\/p>\n

There’s also success within Branstine’s own family.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old’s cousin is Freddie Freeman, the World Series champion who’s a baseman for the Los Angeles<\/a> Dodgers.<\/p>\n

Freeman is an eight-time MLB<\/a> All-Star and won World Series MVP in last year’s championship. <\/p>\n

Wimbledon also provides Branstine with the opportunity to transform the financial landscape of her tennis career.<\/p>\n

The Canadian is ranked 190 in the world and has accumulated $153,796 in earnings throughout her career.<\/p>\n

Despite the large amount, it does mean she has to turn to other revenue streams to support her tennis career.<\/p>\n

Branstine is also a model for two agencies and balances this career with her job between the white lines.<\/p>\n

“I love being in front of the camera during a shoot. It’s fun, I love fashion. It’s been one of the reasons I’ve been able to pay some of my trips,” she told Clay Magazine. <\/p>\n

“I wanted everything to come from me and from my tennis.”<\/p>\n

With her first round appearance at Wimbledon, Branstine will pick up a cheque for at least $90,000, and should she overcome Sabalenka, that will increase to $135,000. <\/p>\n
