Authorities are investigating a shooting involving a San Diego police officer in City Heights Tuesday. <\/p>\n
The shooting occurred about a block away from the Colina Del Sol Park, outside an apartment complex near the intersection of Altadena and Orange avenues.<\/p>\n
The San Diego Sheriff’s Department will be handling an investigation into the shooting, per a countywide memorandum of understanding that prevents departments from investigating incidents involving their own officers.<\/p>\n
It appeared one person was dead, according to a NBC 7 news crew at the scene.<\/p>\n
No official details about the shooting were immediately available.<\/p>\n
SDPD Lt. Travis Easter said no schools in the area were affected at this time and there was no threat to the community. <\/p>\n
