Troy, NY (WRGB) \u2014 Artistic expression meets financial literacy in a 10-week program offered for free to Capital Region youth this fall. <\/p>\n

Young Futures is partnering with Unity House to offer Youth Financial Literacy Art Classes at that organization’s Kathryn Allen Building in Troy.<\/p>\n

Young Futures founder & Chief Visionary Officer James Mitchell says the program is based on the foundational aspects of money management, taught in a fun way that can reach under-served communities.<\/p>\n

“Really making sure it’s taught in a way where they can retain the information, have a good time while doing it, and also get the key components of financial literacy,” says Mitchell.<\/p>\n

Unity House is acting as a partner in this program. Prevention Programs Director Ashley Hart says it’s an important topic for kids to learn.<\/p>\n

An informational session will be held Saturday, September 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at 6 102nd Street. The 10-week program starts October 11 and ends December 20, with a break over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.<\/p>\n

Spots are still open in the 15-seat class for kids age 7 to 13.
