Some significant items, such as the venue\u2019s indoor Ferris wheel, had top bids of $1,200 or less as of Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Funplex, the indoor amusement park located in southwest Houston on Beechnut Street, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DDLJqnby7XR\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=b9f6774c-1302-4662-9c10-a02cdb68ef0c\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced last December<\/a> that it would be closing for renovations with plans to reopen in 2025. However, less than a year later, the property was sold to a new owner, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonchronicle.com\/news\/houston-texas\/article\/funplex-alief-closed-20813836.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Houston Chronicle<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The amusement park opened in 1986 and changed hands several times throughout its nearly 40 years in business.<\/p>\n<p>As of Tuesday afternoon, less than 24 hours remained to bid on some of the most notable Funplex items as part of an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amcbid.com\/auctions\/detail\/bw145133\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">online auction<\/a>: <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">A Ferris wheel standing taller than 60 feet<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Multiple go-karts and bumper cars<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">40 lanes of Brunswick Boost ST String bowling ball pinsetters<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Various pieces of skating equipment from the venue\u2019s skating rink \u2014 featured in Beyonc\u00e9&#8217;s &#8220;Blow&#8221; music video from 2014 <\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Dozens of arcade and claw machines from various eras <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The auction began Aug. 22 and is being managed by the Auction Management Corporation. <\/p>\n<p>The hundreds of items are being sold as part of two auctions with different bidding deadlines. The auction for bowling-related items, rides, virtual reality, arcades, go-karts, skating rink, playport and inflatables is scheduled to end at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24.
