A committee Tuesday voted unanimously to advance the nomination of Todd Bouey as general manager overseeing the retirement system for Los Angeles city workers.<\/p>\n
The Los Angeles City Employees\u2019 Retirement System Board of Administration approved Mayor Karen Bass\u2019 nominee, who will next face the City Council\u2019s Personnel and Hiring Committee. If approved as expected, the nomination would then come before the full City Council for a final vote.<\/p>\n
As general manager of LACERS, one of the city government\u2019s most important financial institutions, Bouey would hold fiduciary responsibility for a $26 billion pension fund. He would also be tasked with helping assure the city government\u2019s long-term stability, and recruitment and retention of municipal employees.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m eager to continue LACERS\u2019 modernization efforts and deliver financial security our dedicated city workforce deserves through upholding the highest standards of fiduciary responsibility and public accountability,\u201d Bouey said in a statement.<\/p>\n
Bouey has been the interim general manager since December after previously serving as assistant general manager. He initiated key modernization efforts such as digitizing services.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe LACERS general manager is key in our work to ensure overall stability of the city by protecting the financial security of our city workforce\u2019s pensions,\u201d Bass said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cI trust that Todd Bouey can build upon his work as interim general manager, continuing LACERS\u2019 position as a trusted and accountable financial institution that is ready to meet the needs of our city workforce now and in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bouey has worked with the city for 20 years in various positions with the Office of Finance, the Controller\u2019s Office and the Office of the City Administrative Officer .
