This weekend, you can show your support by walking for hope, healing and awareness.<\/p>\n<p>The National Alliance on Mental Illness, Greater San Antonio chapter, is hosting its 17th annual NAMIWalks \u2014 an event dedicated to shattering the stigma surrounding mental illness. It&#8217;s taking place Saturday, September 27th, at Morgan&#8217;s Wonderland. <\/p>\n<p>You can sign up online, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.namiwalks.org\/sanantonio\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"https:\/\/www.namiwalks.org\/sanantonio\" class=\"themeColorForLinks\" rel=\"noopener\">namiwalks.org\/sanantonio<\/a>, or register in person starting at 7:30 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Ed and Jackie Dickey first connected with the organization in 2005, when their daughter returned home from college and was dealing with a mental health crisis.<\/p>\n<p>What began as a journey to understand how to support their daughter turned into a mission to educate and uplift other families facing similar challenges.<\/p>\n<p>They helped organize San Antonio\u2019s very first NAMIWalk and have been volunteering ever since.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRelationships among other families who are learning about mental health disorders is one of the strongest ways to navigate success,\u201d Ed Dickey said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s nothing like the empathy that comes from someone with your same lived experiences, and that\u2019s what NAMI deals with.
