Not too much is known about the upcoming Superman<\/a> sequel Man of Tomorrow<\/strong><\/a>, but according to James Gunn<\/a>, a familiar villain will be back.<\/p>\n

What Superman villain is returning for Man of Tomorrow?<\/p>\n

During commentary for Superman available on the film\u2019s home release, Gunn revealed that The Engineer (Maria Gabriela de Faria<\/a>), the female villain that attacks Superman throughout the movie alongside Ultraman and Lex Luthor, will be back.<\/p>\n

\u201c[Superman knocked] The Engineer unconscious,\u201d Gunn said during commentary for the movie (via ComicBookMovie<\/a>). \u201cShe\u2019s out of the movie. Where does she go? Well, you\u2019re going to find that out in the next movie.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gunn also potentially teased that Ultraman, the almost bizarro-esque version of Superman that dukes it out with David Corenswet\u2019s iconic hero in the movie, could potentially be back in the future. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe discover that Ultraman is a clone of Superman. [In the comics], Ultraman is from Earth-3, where he\u2019s a part of The Crime Syndicate and an evil version of Superman. There are some similarities here. Also, you might ask yourself, \u2018Where does Ultraman go at the end of the movie?\u2019 He sends him up into the black hole. Is this the end of Ultraman? I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n

As of now, little is known about Man of Tomorrow, outside of the fact that it will release on July 9, 2027, and that Corenswet, Hoult, and Rachel Brosnahan are all set to return for the movie.<\/p>\n

The Man of Tomorrow is one of Superman\u2019s many nicknames; however, there have also been a handful of DC comic runs that have incorporated the \u2018Man of Tomorrow\u2019 name into their official title. There was also a 2020 animated movie titled\u00a0Superman: Man of Tomorrow<\/a>, but whether or not the DCU movie will be pulling from any of this source material remains unclear at this time.<\/p>\n

Superman is now available to rent or purchase on digital outlets such as Apple TV, Fandango at Home, and more.<\/p>\n

Pictures<\/a>.
