MIDTOWN, Manhattan (WABC) — An off-duty officer shot a suspect who allegedly tried to rob her and a man while they were boarding an LIRR train at Penn Station in Midtown Manhattan on Wednesday, according to officials.<\/p>\n

Police say a couple, a man and woman, boarding the LIRR train between tracks 18 and 19, were on their way home when the suspect tried to rob them.<\/p>\n

The woman, an off-duty officer, then took matters into her own hands and shot the suspect, according to police.<\/p>\n

The suspect was taken to Bellevue Hospital and is expected to be OK.<\/p>\n

No one else was injured.<\/p>\n

Police say it appeared that the incident may have started on the train and then spilled out on the platform.<\/p>\n

There are currently no service delays.<\/p>\n
