Alongside revealing the new Ray-Ban Meta Display glasses<\/a> at this year’s Connect<\/a>, Meta also announced a new way to watch TVs and movies on its existing Quest headsets. The new “Horizon TV” hub will become the one-stop-shop for some of the best streaming services<\/a> like Prime Video, Peacock, Disney+ with Hulu and ESPN.<\/p>\n

We don’t have much to go on, but the image below shared by Meta shows a list of streaming app tiles below what looks like algorithmically generated recommendations from each of the services. There’s the ability to dive straight into a recommendation or add it to your watchlist.<\/p>\n

That watchlist looks to be anchored to the Horizon hub, letting you mix and match a customised list drawn from whichever services you subscribe to. Across the top of the hub are options to quickly switch between Movies, TV Shows, Sports, Music and something labeled “Immersive.”<\/p>\n

Meta says it has partnered with Universal Pictures and Blumhouse to watch movies like “The Black Phone” and “M3GAN” on the Meta Quest with 3D effects enabled \u2014 which could be what it means by immersive.<\/p>\n

It’s worth pointing out Apple and Disney have a similar partnership for Apple Vision Pro<\/a>. Although Horizon TV is reportedly getting an exclusive 3D clip from the upcoming “Avatar” movie added soon.<\/p>\n

There are a lot of details we still don’t know about Horizon TV, specifically which Quest headsets will be compatible<\/a> and when it’ll roll out.<\/p>\n

Alongside the new hub, Meta said it will be making overall platform improvements that include eliminating letterboxing and displaying media in a correctly sized window based on its aspect ratio.<\/p>\n

These improvements are sure to be welcomed by Quest owners. While the likes of the Meta Quest 3S excel for gaming, it’s not as accomplished as the (admittedly much more expensive) Vison Pro when it comes to video content.<\/p>\n
